Hi guys , I know its not carpet cleaning but thought I'd ask if anyone on here has ever cleaned a canvas parasole? its been left out over the winter uncovered and is looking a bit grotty. its was over £250 so I would like to scrub it up if I can.
its cream and has a some mild green algae stains and mould spots on it.
I was thinking about jet washing it but someone told me that wasn't a good idea. Once its clean I'll be putting some protector on it .
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Daz! Just a thought!

I'd go with that.
Technically the thing is already damaged so 'any' cleaning solution would go a long way to sorting it, but pressure washing is not an option.

I'd use a soft bristle scrubbing brush with a mild low foam detergent and plenty water through a hose pipe to rinse well.

just a guess but i'd use some power burst with a softish brush to agitate then rinse off with the rinser on my lance, then i'd clensan it and leave for 20 mins then rinse off again, any mildew left, i would colour dye match it. i'd then charge £249 for the work which would save you a £1 ;D
only joking about the charge, just throwing some ideas your way.

flash with bleach make sure you rinse afterwards.

Will the canvas bit come off? If so, you could probably put it through the washing machine...

My first attack on problem situations such as this is to treat with M power, agitated and left to dwell for 20 mins., then extract. Then you can deal with any problem still there. I recently had to clean a white man made, 15 years old, never been cleaned, 3 dogs, "just do the best job you can mate, I'm not expecting miracles." This carpet had stains on it's stains and I told him to replace it. "Just do your best mate" he said. I sprayed 3 litres of M power solution at 120 to 1, worked it in with a Scrubba de luxe from Extracta, sprayed more in front of the settee and scrubbed, sprayed even more and scrubbed even more, then I proceeded to set up my extraction operation which took me 5 mins. "hey that carpet's like new" custy offered, and stap me vitals, he was not far wrong. I left it another 15 mins and extracted slowly and deeply, then I rang the pope to register it as a 100% miracle, and we all lived happily ever after :) :D ;D 8) Mike
