Title: Tds has gone up!!! help
Post by: Ste M on May 27, 2010, 09:50:32 pm
Hello

When i first started out WFP (trad 7 years before) 8 months ago my TDS on my water was around 60, i bought a 2nd hand purefreedom 650 wfp set up with a 40/40 on it, i couldnt get to grips with the ro side of things an also my tds was ok i thought id go double DI instead, and i sold my RO system (damn that dean taberner for making me a good offer haha), my resin used to last a good few months no problem.

Now ive got a problem, just filled up and checked my in line tds meter at the start, it read 000, went out as the tank was full to turn it off but it was just filling the last it bit up so i checked it agian, 55, SH!T, checked in the tank with my hand held an its reading 33. I then went in an checked my tap TDS 144, the cheeky gits at the water board are messing round with my water  Ive got two conny cleans to do tomorrow an no resin to change my water. my mate has left me some at his but i cant get them before my cleans tomorrow so im hoping that i may get away with it, just cleaned my own windows so ill see how they dry.

Right what i need now is some advice, i need a RO system ASAP to stop my expense of my resin which is goin to start cripplin me soon, i dont have mega money to spend but i dont want a crap system that will last two minutes and cost me a fortune in filters, has anyone any ideas? i was looking on purefreedoms site and they have one for just over £200 which looks lik it will do but i dont know much about them.

Help me please lads

Ste

i got the purefreedom 300gpd unit. its slow but very cheap to run. i produce 1000ltr in 24 hours. my tap tds is 156 after ro its 008 and my resin lasts for ages
i change the pre filters every 3 months costing just over £12
its cheap tidy reliable just so so slow.

is there anything you can do to speed it up? also how much waste does it produce?

a booster pump would speed things up. my tap pressure to get 1000ltr in 24 hours is 50psi. the 300gpd can handle 120psi my waste/pure is 50/50.
it suits me as 1000ltr lasts me 3 days and its producing water in my garden(ibc tank) while im out working

we use pure freedom 450gpd we dont have great water pressure, water going in is about 120ppm, water coming out is about 10 - 11ppm resin lasts for ages but it only produces about 650L in 24h

hows your tds gone from 60 to 144? ??? ??? ::) ::)

mines normally 35-38.

so in theory mine could shoot up over time?? ::) ::) :o :o

im on a water meter in a first floor flat so if it does it would be pointless going wfp as my water bills with an ro system would be huge!

it DI ONLY or stay trad for me ::) ::)

you can use one of these , just need a 12 v transformer

and they will work 24 /7 8)

might need to adjust the pressure switch on times

sod messing about with an ro!i want pure water on demand and ready to go!! not filling up half the night!anyway it would be too impractical in my flat.the waste water would be excessive!

according to gardiners resin calculator id have to change a 25L bag of resin every 3 months if i use 5000L a month.so thats only £6  a week(a pound a day)i could live with that!! ;) ;D ;D
