Have had the worst April May since i started but the phones have been ringing off the hook this week. Must be the weather.
As of Monday I only had 4 Jobs this week but I am now full the rest of this week and am booking well for next week as well.
I dont bloody understand this Job at all sometimes.
-
It will always be like this, think your right regarding the weather mate.

I had a quiet week, then bang 6 jobs booked in, plus more than usual price shoppers. Totally unpredictable.

Hopefully now the ars.. sorry, government have got election over,
people can stop thinking negativelly.
It is often quiet pre election, and picks up afterwards.
Srangely i have been very busy last 2 months, now quiet for cc jobs this week,
luckilly start a 2 day sandstone floor job in morning, a nice job for a grand..
Actually i am a bit nervous about the job, just finished loading van,
double checking i have all i need, plus custy is top end and well known throughout the area
so i cant afford to balls this one up.

Make hay while the sun shines, when the world cup starts the phones will go dead, or at least that has been the trend for the last 3.

Any problems give me a call. Just make sure you give the floor a good 12hrs drying time before applying any sealer.
-
Cheers Sherco, just got back, drying as we speak and will be sealing tomorrow.

Never thought of that Mark..... Pretty tough year me thinks!!!!!

I wouldn't say booking have gone mad, (mad to me means turning quite a bit of work away) but it's a mega improvement on other weeks so far this year.
But there's still no continuity across the week, one day loads of enquiries, the next none, the next loads etc etc.
As for the World Cup, this time it should be different as the kick off times are all late afternoon/evening.

We're just steadily busy and have been throughout the year, taking bookings now for middle-end of next week, which is fine by me. I seem to be getting a lot of price shoppers at the moment and not getting many of them, quoted £47 to a "lady" today for 4x4 lounge, I'm sure I heard her heart miss a beat over the phone, someone else had quoted her £18 ;D off you go and get them then!!

Some clown around my way doing cheap carpet cleans - £10 for average room WTF ??? Turns out this clown does it part time as he has a full time job. I had my normal CC in yesterday to do me stairs and got talking about him, turns out he has been in to the local estate agents with crazy prices and the estate agent prefers my CC but at the other guys prices. Fisty cuffs soon me thinks.

This week is far and away the best of the year so far, next week is looking good already, albeit another short week (bloody bank holidays !)

There's steam coming out of my ears mate... Give him a dig from me ;D

Guys you can never completely get rid of these £10 boys so always have to market yourself and your abilities now all i have to do is find work for a Scottish carpet cleaner in Swindon and Oxford available match days/nights(kilt optional).Regards Alan(swindon)

I think what you said about Marketing is spot on. The other day I cleaned someones 4 rooms, the next door come out and asked how much I charge. So went had a look average size rooms and small passage so told her it would cost 130 dollars. She said she had be quoted 60 bucks for it all. So I said cant compete with that. I said you get what you pay for and asked to look at what I had just done, they looked great and I then did her carpets 2 days later for the 130 dollars.

Spot on stand by what your quality is unless you offer crap!
I used to get recommended by everyone I cleaned for but I was too cheap and made very little but now I charge more I get recommended less but get alot of very well paid jobs offering a simular quality fool being me years ago!!!

Average job price has soared, people seem to be getting whole houses done even if less calls are coming in overall.

It's quite possible to run part time but you'd need to charge sensible prices if you are to make a profit.
At £10 a room I doubt he's paying tax, insurance and probably cleaning with water!

I run part time and want to go full time soon,I charge proper rates and do thorough cleaning, not everyone who is part time is a clown/cowboy.
I need to take the plunge as CC is what I want to do but when you have a regular income - although a small one giving it up takes some thinking about.
I find I get 5/6 calls over 2 days then nowt for 4 days then maybe another 2.I guess this is what being self employed will mean then.

The more accessible and established a service is, the less random and more consistent the phone calls will be. It's harder to get to that point if you are occupied elsewhere.
