months back alot were saying that the forums gone down hill, i feel its getting alot worse.
like kids bitching at each other all the time!
guys giving advice on kit or system they dont even have!
too many cowboys on here now - a good 20% of cowboys on here!
still some great posts n guys on here but its getting harder n harder to find a good post and good guys with experience!
this forum needs a section for big companies and a section for guys with experience!
i think wc in general is getting worse and worse with too many scummy crackheads starting out with a pound shop bucket and kit and a dirty old tea towel and its giving the wc name an ever badder name.
as i said before there are some great guys n posts on here so i dont want to cause any offence to anyone.

i hear wot ur sayin m8 ;) gave me a proppa belly wobble the way u put it tho ;D ;D ;D
1st bloody class Martin ;)
-
it is getting alot worse tho isnt it? its not the forums fault - its wc in general more and more are looking into wc as an easy option of work - which is fine but when its idiots and crackheads that dont have a bloody clue it does my head in!
im not saying you need a load of big sign written vans and and a ionics system.
i see some posts asking for a price on a job they are doing with a few pics - one will say £60 and the next says £400!
cracks me up!
wc trade/name is gonna get alot worse with v v v unpro guys trying to clean windows.
its bad that alot of guys cant even use a mop n blade! its like a cheif that can cook chicken but not steak!
-
im with u on that m8 ;) ive been on the windys just over 20years. ive seen a hell of a lot come & go round my way. still alot out there...... BUT NOT MANY I WOULD GIVE A JOB TOO ;)
-
I think calling people crack head is going a little ott, yes its got worse but you just learn to only answer certain posts and leave the rest, this post is just as bad as the ones your refering too, as for prices it all comes down to areas I speak to a lad in Scotland on msn and what he charges for a £8 job id get for £20 thats just life....
-
THINK ITS JUS THE SAME
as always though some r a lot better
than others they know who they are ;D ;D ;D
-
I can't really say as I have only been on a few month's.
However.........
It doesn't seem too bad most of the time, just the odd occasion.
I think that in general mostly experienced and professional window cleaners use this site.
Also there seems to be some good lads on here, a few who I have spoken with on the phone and have even met up.
I think anybody should be able to ask for help and advice, we all have something to learn. I also think it is good for people to give advice, so you get to see a few opinions, and different views from different parts of the country.

... and different views from different parts of the country.
...of the world, in fact.

the problem i see is that it is like a school with a new head master, who wants to sort the place out and start makingmoney, has got rid of a few people and that has up set a few, they have to follow what the sponsors want, because they basically pay for the site, the only way to get it so u could do what u wanted was to charge a membership fee, and when a i asked that a few months ago, a lot said they wouldnt

Its something like *regards*
I have been to Moscow about 2 years ago, great place. I also sent staff to St Petersburg, they said it was fantastic - I wish I would have gone ???
Until the Brits drink real Russian Vodka, they have no clue to how good it is. ;D

To be honest, thats how we started out. two guys been on the dole for 6 months, had enough of crappy jobs with crappy wages and thought we could do better on our own, till something better comes along.
That was 21 years ago, nothing better has come along!
I wish I had the benefit of a forum like this then, could have cut out some of the mistake we made.
Hard work & long hours trying to build a business doesn't suit everyone. I enjoy what I do, but anyone who thinks its a quick fix or instant money soon find out they are wrong, these are the ones that will fall by the wayside.
-
I also think its getting worse but the reason I think its getting worse is because of posts like this!

I couldn't agree more.

Not so different for me either when I started in the recession of early 90s.
An old hatchback car which saw me through the first few months until the engine finally packed up. A ladder borrowed from an out of trade plumber. A few bits of advice from an old time window cleaner. Literally knocking on doors for some work for the next day. As they became regulars, the next time around there were a few less gaps to fill and so it went on.
Cowboy? Probably - but I didn't know any better.
I only intended to do it until I got a job. Quite by accident I stumbled across something that was so suitable for me that I'm still at it after 19 years.
When the engine packed up I had been self-employed for about 9 months so the bank lent me the money fore a vehicle. I think the guy must have been on commission because he suggested that I call it a "car loan" rather than a "business loan for a van". So I got a Nissan Sunny that was less than three years old for just 2 grand. It was nine years before I sold it on. I got quite attached to it.

I had a mini with a double 14ft ladder on top of it - without a roof rack!
-
Its not the forum.
The people make the forum, this is just a room is which to hang out in. The forum has been running for so long now its getting the same old questions that have been asked time and time again.
I probably have repeated some of the questions myself. So I have not helped either.
Then you always get the PRICE WAR or WAGES WAR. How much he or they have earnt. Then the comments flow about "Oh I earnt twice as much" or thats nothing compared to.... Then you see them later driving in a reliant. I dont get it.
So just to add, there were days I earnt nothing and worked my backside to the bone.
I am not just a window cleaner, I ran a firm of cleaners. Office cleaning. No residential.
As for the cowboys I think we need them as they make us the "Professional shine". And just for the record, to be Professional does not mean you need to own an IONICS or similar. As long as your work is good, and customer service is great and you know how to conduct yourself professionally then you are professional.
If you have WFP as we do but have gone DIY I dont care, you might even do a better job than someone who has paid out £1000's.
So I hope we get some fresh blood soon as some of the top guys have left which is a shame.
Its not just the window cleaning section either, its everywhere, carpet cleaners, general cleaning. Its poor now. But I am sure it will pick up again.

That's funny that is because I was talking to a moderator today and he thought the site was going down hill.
But people have been saying this site has been going downhill for about 7 years now! It must've hit the bottom by now. ;D
I know there's members whose posts I like to read, and others whom I don't, but it's always been like that.
Saying all that, there is a marked increase - or maybe just a glut - of negative posts whining about stuff.

I belong to another forum, Tiling and on there they have different section that only certain people can access..They have a guest area, a pricing area and elite area. The guest area anybody can access, the pricing area only members can access and the elite area you can only access if you have over 500 posts or you have been advising people and other elite members then can decide if they think you can join that section. This system works very well and keeps the riff Raff out.

THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO THINKS THEY KNOW BEST DOES MY HEAD IN !! I HAVE BEEN IN THE GAME 20 YRS I THINK I KNOW QUITE ALOT BUT ALWAYS STILL LEARNING NEW IDEAS AND LISTEN TO WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY SOME PEOPLE NEED TO STOP DRIBBLING AND LEARN TO LISTEN :P

you need to realize nothing is writen in stone in wc; what works in one place may not be
the dog s for others ie brushes i use one make others cant abide them.
i dont work in town others never move out of town.
but your allways learning in this game you have to up your game to make it
positve things happen to positve people[billy]

Have just banned 3 thieving pot smoking chavs from my shop, to think guys like this are undercutting honest hard working wc's.

From my point of view, the forum is ok at the moment. at one time we were getting about half a dozen report to mod emails per day, now we seem to get in a week what we used to get in a day.
Looks like we had a few people upset with the religeous posts on the non related section, but apart from that, no real aggro, we still have the odd people who try to wind people up, but they seem to be fighting a losing battle.
Anyway if you look down the list, you will see a lot of useful posts, better to read them than dwell on the odd negative post.
-
worried if I should post now ?? still a newbie .. had a few rows on here ... possibly upset one or two older members ... ???

i am a member of that forum also although i havent been on it in ages. it does work very well and you only get access to the members only section when you help others etc and it becomes obvious you are a professional

ive been a member since 2007 to be honest most of
the posts i have seen before, i dont think its any
better or worse than before.
well apart from a few that seem dissapeared from here or
post less ,who really knew what they were on about
(jeff brimble, matt ,jeff 1) and others who i havent got
time to mention, these people far as im concerned are
really missed on this forum but seem to have been
squeezed off :(
