ive just bought 30m of half inch professional ultra tough yellow hose from B&Q today.is this suitable for using as extension hose on back of a trolley system?and what length do you think it should be?(20m?).
as the trolley comes with hoselock type fittings i thought id try this hose out.is it too big and heavy and is microbore/minibore a lot better?or does this half inch stuff do the job? ??? ???
they didnt sell minibore or microbore ??? ???

I'll probably be shot down ::) but B&Q hose is not something I would use, I left some pure in a hose once overnight then checked the tds out of it in the morning It was over 100 TDS, whether the rubber breaks down slowly or starts dissolving I don't know, but I only use clear reinforced 1/2'' hose from a chandlers and microbore now.

i thought while i was there i would get some.why dont they sell minibore or microbore?do you have to order all this size hose online then?
it looks like good hose(20 year guarantee!)
so do any of you guys use this as extension hose on back of trolley?? ???

Dazond I would get 8mm hose it is thinner, can you not take the hose back, what area are you in ?

i could take the hose back window washers but it looks like good hose.also i was thinking it would be less likely to freeze in winter with it being a bit thicker.
if i get 8mm the hoselock wont fit on the end will it?ive looked online and they seem to sell the 6mm barb hoselock end but no 8mm! ::) ??? ???
another thing if i need to buy some hose quickly i can just nip down to B&Q.
i live in the warrington area(north west)

you can convert 8mm to hose lock you just need a few bits, gardiners sell a conversion already made up.
if the hose is going to freeze it will freeze anyway,
the only reason I say about 8mm is it is smaller, easier to handle. one thing I guess you could do is have that on a hose reel ontop of the trolley mini mount ;D

thanks for that window washers.ill have a look.ive got normal green hose from my tap in the bathroom, down the stairs.i will put one end in di then the other from di into 25L barrels in back of van. so ill have my pure water ready to go!
im sure the hose will come in handy for something! ::) ;D ;D

had a look at gardiners site they only do conversions with a 6mm barb!(i thought so!)
so would 6mm be ok for extension hose?i get confused with all these male/female type connectors and fitting etc!i just want to make sure everything fits and that i have a few spares at hand!! ;) ;D ;D

take the 1/4" inch hose back ma m8
6mm micro bore fr gardiners about 29 qyid 60metres
top quailty stuff lighter easier end of m8 ;) ;)

Why rely on b&q when most cleaning supplies could sell you 20' of lite5 flexi which is perfect for using on trollies, 9 times out of 10 we add these as an upgrade to our polar trolley.

i used the b&q 1/2inch hose for over a year and it does the job and if you havent used anything else you wont have any problem with it. however all that said i changed over to 6mm microbore and couldnt believe the difference and ease it was to reel in and i wouldnt use anything else now
-
i've recently changed from 1/2" hose to 6mm microbore and i do think its a lot better.
Most suppliers will deliver within 2-3 days to your door.

When I used a trolley I just added a 20m length of pole hose to the end of the pump hose, it was easy to handle and a lot lighter than 1/2" hose
-
thanks lads ill order some 6mm microbore .the B&Q hose will come in handy for hooking up to custys outside taps for conny roofs/fascias/soffit cleans.i HATE the cheap standard green hose ive got! >:( >:(its forever kinking and gettin twisted! >:( ::)
i suppose you live and learn! ;) ;D ;D
thanks for all the posts guys
best wishes

daz, i have 6mm an i think its causing me issues with my pump, they recommend 8mm as the pumps react to it better, i have to replace my 6mm with 8mm, also mate get the longest hose you can get, i know you have a lot of compact work like myself, if you work it out you can park your van in one part of the street an do most of your houses without moving it, i have 100m an im made up with the length if i could id go bigger to make me get to more houses ;D
