1 Don't get a 2 stroke generator
2 If you can fund it I'd go for a name because it will last and you can buy parts. I have an old Honda that used to run a burger van and its like new, I have a Honda powered Stephill for my hotbox and drain camera which runs all day on a tank. A secondhand good one is better than a new poopter made by beansprout scoffers in some Chinese back street.
3. Do you really need a generator for a hot box

What names are good in the world of generators?

If i was going to buy a gennie to run a hot box I'd go over board and buy a big one that can power bigger stuff ( maybe a portable or scrubber dryer) for when you get a home job without any power.

the minimum I would buy is this  size

But I would never use a scrubber dryer. Its only a hot box that i would need to power, maybe a kettle too!

I also want something that is quite small, as i have hardly any space in my van as it is.
Any suggestions?

This is what I have - will also run a travel kettle on fast setting but you only need slow to run the hotbox. It has a Honda engine.

I've got a 12KVA generator, 6.5KVA and an 850 Watt from Machine Mart.

The Machine Mart one is two stroke and this is what I use to run my hotbox, £80.00
