Title: What would you guys charge for this?
Post by: Sapphire Window Cleaning on May 21, 2010, 04:33:40 pm
How much would you charge for this job, it includes gutter clearing, window cleaning and cleaning all the cladding and any polycarbonate panels on the roof.

Cant see any gutters to speak of.

Id imagine somewhere around the £480 mark.

The windows at a rough guesstimate £75 althougth there appears to be some on the roof that arent entirely visible.

Cant see how bad the cladding is so as a rough look £400 for that.

There's only about 50 metres of guttering near to the doors, but theres loads of cladding and I have to climb onto the flat roofs to clean approx 30 polycarbonate panels.
I am going to pressure wash the cladding, hoping it will be a lot quicker than WFP lol

Ian, on the flat roof is it my responsibility to ensure that there's a sufficient guard rail?
Also do buildings of this age usually have an anchor point for a fall arrest harness?
I think I would take 3-4 days so I would charge for 4 days.

I would say 1 person 3 days to do a good job.
From the pictures, the cladding doesn't look too dirty, so either wfp, or if you have the pressure washer, it probably would shave a bit of time off. The poly sheets would probably be a couple of hours, at least they are not glass!
I would also if its just a one off, quickly scrub and rinse the frames so they are clean, then go behind and traditional the glass.
I have found that some older schools that we clean have had anchor points fitted, worth asking the main contact to find out?
As for price, i would base it on your day rate but plus a few quid more per day as its a one off.
I would price around a bag of sand Matt.  ;D

Foom the pictures it looks near 1.5 days for one man...depending on how long your day is. I have cleaned schools and been surprised how much I can get through in a day.  If me, I would quote (assuming I wanted it), £600.

You like using that camera matt. Looks nice job m8. Try and estimate time it will take and multiply by your hourly rate. Each window cleaner charges different rates and prices vary dependant on area.  Just quote with what you are comfortable with and dont under price.

Its both parties responsibility to discuss it.
I have only ever had guard rails fitted once at a care home, as we were 3 stories up and had a glass dome to clean. They were not very expensive so i was told, they do flat roof guard rails as well. You can put them on yourself so i'm aware? Speedy hire will probably do them, but i had a company in Norwich supply and fit them, the care home arranged it. I'll look and see if i can see who the company was.

Thanks nice and clean, I know I will be anchored but that is only a fall arrest, I would rather have the preventative measure in place. I know its not very high up but even at 10ft you could still get a very serious injury or even die.

Hi there,

I would say it must be around the £550 - £600  bracket.

3 x one man days at £180 per day = plus travelling time and contingency in case of anything unforeseen when you did the survey.

Hope this helps.

have you been traine dto use fall arrest equipment and harness? if not then you can be classed as not acompotent person. It's all very well buying all the H&S gear but you alson have to know what your doing with it.

You will also require probably a permit to work and include written risk assessments. Be careful you dont hit them with all the H&S as they could hold ye to it mate

if I get the job, it will cleaned after I am trained with fall arrest procedures.
I will be handing in a full Risk assessment and method statement when I hand in my quotation along with a copy of my PL insurance.
What permit are you talking about JSMC?

I would charge a day rate no less than £280.00 per day no more than four days for a proper job. cladding should come up easy and the poly carbon mostly discolour by weather and no matter what you do they always look the same as long algae is taken off then no problems and the window would best to blade.

Going to keep an eye on this

We do similar for a fraction of the price, schools wont pay, so do i scrap or increase

Ask Dean he worked on one of my schools & its massive, & we get less than some quote for this

Matt,
The windows won't take long at all, about a morning for them.

The cladding is the time consumming part, I would say you will do it all in about 2 days.

In total 2 1/2 days max.

I do a lot of schools in Essex and I think you will be lucky to get any more than 2 1/2 days out of it, you will be surprised at how quick you can do the job.

Don't price yourself out of work, be realistic.

I would say, for the whole lot, cos the cladding may be a tad stubborn.

£650.00 All in.

Take 2 flasks and sandwiches. ;D
