i dont believe it , the first 3 days went perfect , but thursday and today i got nothin but spots and runs on every window i did , why is this happening ?
I was rinsing really well , i dont understand ?
Any ideas ?
Rich P @ F

did you test your tds before work
dave
-
OH YES , Its a brand new system , first fill of resin still .
Off the subject a bit but you live in a cracker of a place , i used to be there every mon , wed, fri , by any chance you not the wc that does the Indian opposite the hong kong kitchen in st ives are you ?
Rich P@F
-
no that is john fisherr a good friend and neighbor .
i clean the surf shop and clothes shops close to there.
i think you mean the indian facing the thai chef in hayle or are you talking about st ives itself.
-
sorry yes you do mean st ives town .no i gave up on st ives itself and just do the outskirts .its hell in there in the summer for parking and stuff. can earn loads more elsewhere
still test your tds because sometimes the system cant work fast enough to purify if your flow rate is to high,or has something got contaminated.
dave
-
No , definately in st ives itself , if i recall the indian was called ruby somthin , its down the one way street by the co op , just round the corner from new world chinese takeaway , your probably wonderin how i know the names , i used to deliver all the frozen to the takeaways all over cornwall .
Rich P @ F
-
yes its called ruby murry`s ,its up for sale at the mo.
you can probably understand how i got out of there then .
to many pedestrians and cars and nowhere to park at all in summer
dave
-
Absolute nightmare mate , i had a 5.5 tonner and the guy from the veg shop was always in the loadin bay , i just resorted to leavin it outside rubys in the end , nobody ever liked me in st ives
HE HE HE ;D ;D ;D
Rich P @ F

oh and i will try the pressure bit as i did increase the flow thurs morning !
Rich P @ F
-
the water has to pass over the surface area of the resin beads for them to work there magic and if the di bottle is small the water can flow past to fast and not enough beads to cope with the flow rate .
thats another thing i learned on the bwca course.

It could also be something to do with that black sticky stuff.
Or it could be wfp dont work , i am yet to be convinced.
dave
-
like i said before the first few days it was faultless , and i mean that , i will cut the pressure back tomorrow and see what happens , but maybe you are right about the black stuff , i just gave the brush a good soak in ungers , it came out a bit , still some left , only time will tell .

Rich,
What WFP system are you using?
Are you using DI only, or R/O but feeding the water through the DI directly as you use it??
If everything you did was spotting then the water that was hitting the glass must have been contanimated in some way.
Set your water flow to exactly the same as on the day you were having problems, disconnect the hose from the brush, fill a glass with the water and check the TDS.
If TDS is high then the problem is probably at the DI end.
If the TDS is good then your brush may well be contanimated.
Is the brush of the flocked variety or the single filament type?
The flocked ones if they become comtanimated, because of their nature, can remain contanimated longer than the single filament ones.
If you wash out your brush, regardless of the solution used, make sue you rinse the brush out in first normal tap water and then in a bucket or two of pure.
If you can leave your brush in a bucket of pure water at 0.000 TDS and agitate & leave to soak for a little while, when you check the TDS of the water it should still be at 0.000 or as near as damn it
You could also make sure the settings are the same as when you were having problems and clean a couple of your own windows to see if they too spot up. ( prior to cleaning everything out of course!)
Good luck

IAN , I have just done my own windows , 3 windows , and i used a different method on every one , i did one really shoddy and even that one came out like crystal , thats what i dont understand , i am coming round to the idea that maybe the sun was to blame for the nasty windows yesterday.
My system is all seperate components , the brush is oval vikan flocked ends.
The DI is all i use , its 18" tall and 22" around {PARK INTERNATIONAL}

how much resin does that di bottle use .does not seem big enough to me at least? (but what do i know) ive got 2 ,18litre bottles so i dont take any chances
-
Well i have been told that i can fill the bottle 4 times with a 25L bag, so that i assume means that it is a 6.25L bottle !
Just out of interest , if i fitted another bottle of the same size what would be the benefit if any ?
Rich P @ F
-
well for a start it would double the resin ,the first bottle will do most of the work and the second will help to poliish off. so there is more chance of the resin not missing any tds in the water when you increase your flow rate.(i`m no expert just what i have reseaeched so far).
there was another thread on here recently about the benefits of running two bottles together.
i will see if i can find it

here it is

-
So from that i take it i could just fit another bottle after the first one and when the tds crept up i would place the older bottle 1st and new bottle 2nd ?
HAS DINNIE BOY GOT IT RIGHT ?
Rich P @ F
-
yes the second bottle becomes your first bottle.
the first bottle gets new resin and becomes you second bottle.
easy peasy lemon squeezie
-
PLYMOUTH DINGBAT WANTS TO MAKE SURE HE GOT IT !
PUMP#OLD RESIN#NEW RESIN#BRUSH
WHEN TDS GOES UP AT BRUSH HEAD REFILL OLD RESIN AND PLACE WHERE NEW RESIN WAS.
SO IN SHORT THE OLDER RESIN WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST IN LINE .
DID I GOT IT ! Rich P @ F
-
baaabbbbyy you got it ,everything you need you got it
-
NO I GOT THAT WRONG , CHECK THE TDS AFTER THE FIRST BOTTLE , WHEN THAT CREEPS UP , PUT NEW RESIN IN IT AND PUT IT WHERE THE SECOND BOTTLE WAS AND THEN PUT THE SECOND BOTTLE WHERE THE FIRST ONE WAS .
NEWER RESIN ALWAYS IN 2ND BOTTLE .
RICH P @ F

no the tds can rise up a lot higher in the first bottle as long as within say 75% of you tap tds it should be still ok . basically you are taking the pressure off the second bottle by reducing the tds of the tap water before it goes throygh the second bottle. i would look to start replacing as it gets near that figure as it means the resin is nearing saturating point. but the most important thing is the tds coming out of the second bottle
what is your tap tds mine is 73
-
Dont matter what brush you have, just insure you clean it or dip in some pure water inbetween jobs, as for the runs its more likey you have not cleaned the top frame well enough. This is the most important part clean it well and rinse the whole lot frame and glass, if you just rinse the glass after cleaning the whole lot then good chance of issues.
Good luck
