More money is wasted on the incorrect usage of chemicals than anything else in my book. I call it the 'glug, glug' syndrome. It doesn't matter what dilution rates are on the bottles cleaning staff will always use more than is necessary.

If you are using 5 ltr containers of anything then buy some pump dispensers to go in the top. They are ever so cheap and worth their weight in gold.

I have been down the 'concentrated' route and it can work out more expensive.

Not sure if i'm allowed to say this but 'J Flex' by Johnson Diversey is one such example of concentrated chemicals that just aren't worth the bother.

Some years ago (1992) I used a variety of products by a company called AGMA (up t'north somewhere). These were packed in sachets like you occasionally see free shampoo samples attached to magazines. Each sachet was exactly the right measure. Although they seemed expensive to buy it saved me fortunes as the 'glug glug syndrome' dissapeared overnight. I've not seen them around in recent years.

One other thing I used to try................and there will be folks who say I shouldn't do it................but it's up to you..............

I used to give cleaners 50 pence for every empty 5 litre container they gave back to me. Then, in our central store I used to dilute down all of the other 5 litre containers (maintaining the correct labelling of course). The products that were then going out to sites were much weaker BUT by the time they had caught a dose of the 'glug glug syndrome' they were probably using the right measures anyway.

I like it !!! The 'glug glug syndrome'.

While the term might be new to me the problem certainly isn't. It is so frustrating. All of these tricks though aren't really addressing the issue and involve a lot of additional time & effort. I am going to try and crack it through more ongoing training & coaching and also by constantly using phrase like "less is more, less is better etc"

Hi Cliff,

I can see where CMS is coming from with the 'Glug Glug System'

We use to use Ecolab concentrates. I found this did save us a fortune; however, I never let the concentrate bottles go on site. I use to have a part timer on the weekend for washing the vans etc and one of his jobs was to fill all the trigger sprays up etc, that where returned to base on Friday evenings.

I have since moved my base of operations etc and once we are back at that level of staffing and contracts, I will revert back to concentrates.

I think you just have to find a way of monitoring their use and then you’re laughing.

Hi

Give Chemex a call I have found there products to be the best on the market and at a good price to. Give them a ring on 01215254040 and they will get the local supplier to contact you and discuss your requirements. I can highly recommend this company and its products..

Regards
