Title: 40-40 not producing good water
Post by: Topclean on May 14, 2010, 04:58:26 pm
as the title says my ro isnt producing very good readings, ive just checked and  the best i could get is around 90 tds, thats coming from a hard water area of 400 tds!!! I havnt got a booster pump so was wondering weather this would make a big differnce?  I also have a ro 350 witch produces water of about 18-22 tds however this dosnt make it quick enough?   I,m currently using 1000 litres a day, any help on this would be appreciated.

Speak with June at Gaps water treatment She'll sort you out.

I have very hard water like yours but my 40x40 produces water at 01ppm, I have a booster pump, two pre filters and a water softener as well though.

Best membrane I've ever bought was from Gaps it's the low pressure 40x40 membrane, and will constantly produce water with a very low TDS I can fill 1000LT in around 4-6HRS.

All R O s work best under pressure so I think a booster pump will improve your rate as well as quality of water.I am not sure of the pressure for a 40/40 but look on the web for suppliers it will say which of there pumps are made for the 40/40 membrane.

If you haven't changed the carbon filter regularly, chlorine could have got to the membrane and ruined it.
When you change the membrane, change the pre filters too. Get Chlorplus carbon filters, they wont need changing as often.
