Title: using sub contractors
Post by: Ryan @ Transparent, Carlisle on May 14, 2010, 04:05:44 pm
I am looking at getting in a sub-contractor to work along side me.

Just wondering.....

Will his own public liability insurance cover himself, working with me?

Is there any other important issues i need to know before i go down this route?

Yes most important question is how much is he going to charge you. If he's an experienced W/C then his day rate will probably be close to yours so there may be very little profit for you after settling his invoice.

I have just had this clarified for me. If you have someone on a self employed basis sub contractor you still need employers liability.

If you have a subby working on your job and they hurt/kill themselves you have to be covered. This is employers liability. Public liability is different.
