Title: protecting company name

I am trading at present as upvc-cleaning-services but want to know if i buy upvc-cleaning-services ltd as a dormant company would this affect me trading as the former.
I would like to protect the name just in case i want to incorporate the company at a later date.

u can buy and keep it dormant and still use the name, as u own it,  all you got to do is file a tax return every years as not trading

Sorry for being thick here....

So i can still trade as upvc-cleaning-services as a sole trader,but still have upvc-cleaning-servicesltd as a dormant company ready to use maybe in the future or maybe not if i decide to stay as a sole trader?
 ???
