Title: Setting up a system to mains.
Post by: dudek on May 12, 2010, 08:51:33 pm
Hi all i am just wondering how easy would it be to install a system to take out all metals and baddies to enable it to be used around the whole house and drinking water thus cutting down on limescale in the bathroom.

Its just that i would like to run it straight from the mains

is there anything specific to drinking water i need to looking out for.

Thanks

i am not sure if pure water is drinkable,  but to rig it up,  run a pipe straight from ur mains to a di vessel and then back to the mains to make a curcuit,  but if u need a tank becasue if an ro,  run ut mains pipe to a ro/tank and then put a pump on it to pump it around the house when it is need,  it is easier to do than to explain lol

Thanks for the reply mate but i was thinking more about providing healthier drinking water for the family and i know you can buy such systems but wondered how easy it would be to get all to components for drinkable water and do it myself

What you need is a whole house water softener. Running and RO based system to do it will cost a fortune to run because of waste water etc.

There are many ready to go softeners available. Just google for them to investigate.

easy,  u can get one that will fit un de rur sink,  u just tap in to the water supply after the mains and run in to the machine then back to the pipe and connect to the house,  its a very easy job,  u need a few connectors  a bit of piping and a pipe slicer
