Hey guys, just wondering how you guys pick an area to canvass for new customers? Do you just decide what areas you want to work and hit those streets? Or do you spend time driving round checking areas out first to see if they have a window cleaner? I only ask cause i spent two hours driving round today after i finished my cleans, and didnt drop one leaflet or knock one door!

depends sumtimes i canvass round the areas i have quite a few to make my working day more compact, sum days il canvass bigger houses in hope get nice prices, other days il notice an area with dirty windows and canvass them!!

Pick a radius from you and leaflet every house within that radius.
You can then work out which areas are best to go back and "canvas".
I personally never knock on doors as I would find it intrusive and never by anything in this way.

All I do is try to avoid areas where the houses have poor access (linked detached and terraced in particular). I also avoid areas where there would be bad parking problems.

Whenever we get an enquiry from an area that we're not currently servicing, I generally get someone to go out there and leaflet the whole area to see what the response is.
Other times if I'm out and about I simply stop at nice looking estates or streets and leaflet them for half an hour or so.
Always have leaflets or business cards in your vans ready for such an occasion.

Its a good idea to get out of the van/car and knock on a few doors or at least put some flyers or cards through .
You can get a good feel of the area that way, and its suprising how many new customers you can pick up .

i started in my own village and i knocked on every door, if they were not in i made a note of it and went back later until i had an answer off everyone in the village.
then i went onto the next village and did the same.
all of my route is in a 10 mile radius now and my brand is going strong within my community so referrals are rolling in now.
cherry picking does work but i find that some other wc's will have already found these nice estates and big houses.

Buy a street map and colour in each street as you do it. When you have covered the whole map get a new map and start again.
