Im just about to start building a round and was wondering should I canvass during the day with all the equipment ready and do the jobs there and then 4 the custi? working from 1 house 2 the next. does any1 do this or would you just canvass and arrange the clean?

I rekon it depends on how much time you have .. a first clean takes me about 2 hours >:( but Im just starting out so a few of them and thats half a day gone but at least there done and money in bank .... me personally I canvass an estate and go back the next day to do the ones I got.
No wrong or right way its personal preference I rekon :)

my god, 2 hours on a first clean? how big are these houses ?
I agree with Cleewindows, around half an hour

We normally arrange for following week. Doesn't pay to look too desparate even if you are (!). They might expect it for nothing!
Average house 15/20 mins (with 2 of us). Our longest domestic clean is approx an hour/hour and a quarter but that is a HUGE house inside and out.

Ask how soon they want it.
If they want it straight away inhale through your teeth like a mechanic looking at a white van engine and tell them you might be able to manage.........insert time that suits you.........

4 bed detached with garages in front under bedroom window and conservertory in back .... mind invested in a WFP trolley so prob quicker on next batch of first cleans ... I do frames as well which were all minging .. nice posh estate with no W/C it would appear :)
trying to get em down to 1 hour

Ian, I'm pretty sure when I first started I was the same, however each and every job was immaculate.
You'll get faster with practise, but if you can, try and find a friendly local window cleaner, (someone who looks like they're doing well) who'll take you out for a day and show you the ropes. This could be worth £1000 of pounds in real terms since you'll learn how to work faster and price without making too many mistakes.
