Am i right in thinking that the wording R&WS can only be used in advertising on vans etc if you have an Ionics system fitted? Also does that also apply to the Ionics symbol ie (man and pole with water dripping)?
-
i do belive so
-
Yep your right, just watch the item on ebay saying the words reach and wash get removed very shortly.

Hi
If you have ionic systems fitted in your van...
You can use ionic's logo on your van...
regards
-
As far as I am aware you cant copyright words only logo's / memes.
EG A little service garage can say "we service Fords cheaply" but cant use the ford badge/symbol in their advert.
So I rekon you will be ok to use the words "reach and wash" just not the crippled dripping man.
anyways whos going to tell them ??
-
Just tried to buy the ionics trolley to see if i could get the disc to put logo on van, no chance unless buying a van mounted system.
-
i would not worie about it just use it who knows wether you got iconics or not no one can see in your van
-
im iconic lol ;D
-
the ebay "reach and wash trolley " has been removed
for all the people who was not on here when threats of legal action where flying everywhere, will not know that reach and wash is a trade mark and ionics will protect thier brand.
yes they are just words but so is ford (road /river crossing) and fiesta ( celebration) but try and call a car you make that and you will be in trouble.
i am no fan of ionics far from it, but to give them credit, thier logo is very good and thier name suits the product they sell.
they paid out money to someone to design it, then paid out money to register them. so why should anyone use it.
-
I agree, the logo is catchy, but there's better ones around.
if you're a window cleaner, the best advertisment is "WINDOW CLEANER"
it explains exactly who we are and what we do.
If a person has awkward windows but wants them cleaned he's not gonna clock a van with window cleaner on the side and think "Damn, so close, what I really need is someone with a reach and wash system !!!!!"
if the van wizzes past with the dripping man logo on it, most people who are not aware of it (ie. every non window cleaner) won't know what it is . . drain cleaner ?? who knows !!
-
why dont you phone up
Ionics....
They will tell u....
Answer will be yes...
If you have fitted systems in your van
Dont known about trolley system

smack on Paul Gold, the branding sells systems really and has less impact on the end user (domestic), although to be fair it probably registers with facitiity managers that they are dealing with someone serious and not a clown.
Many nationwide brands and fracnchies support their people via national advertising, and when this aformentioned brand click that this is their real silver bullet we may all be in trouble. Luckily amidst all the slick proffessionalism they still retain an element of dibbeyness, hence alex hitting the bullseye with his poles and all the big budget outfits having to scramble to compete.
An indepependant can brand just as well, such things as thermoshine spring to mind, but it has to be said if you just want to get on and make money then going with the stick man is the simplest route.
-
Their is a fellow comes round our way selling meat, offal and the like. He has a limp too.
So do we have to stop calling him "the crippled dripping man"?
I wouldn`t want to get sued by Ionics and I can`t afford a van system :-\.

A lot of these jokes about dominant and superior brands just come over as bitter, or jealous. For a start they must be doing something right or we wouldn't even be talking about them.
I've seen people use the bmw/mercedes analogy trying to explain the added value of these systems.I've got a high end system too, in these terms probably a roller, or an apple computer against a dell.As with the poles, they don't know everything, but i rate them pretty well; They are crash tested, reliable, and well branded.

true, but credit where credit is due . . the crippled dripping man post really made me laugh ;D ;D ;D

"Reach & Wash" is copyrighted
"Reach and Wash" is not,.... :)
-
I would think it sufficiently similar to be actionable if used in the context of window cleaning.
-
True Clive,... :(
-
You can all have the Purple Rhino Logo if you want real branding ;D ;D ;D
-
That is quite good (rhino) but the true model for us has to be the local milkman style, or green thumb.
-
plenty use the logo. i have saw few vans with it round my way i am sure. ;)

Too true esp the "WINDOW CLEANER" bit.
Most privates are not bothered how their windows are cleaned ... was visiting my parents last night they told me about a flyer they had thru their letter box ... " new waterless window cleaning" says me dad . "waterless ?? ?? ?? ... thats a very new system" says me ... passes me the leaflet .. he meant ladderless .. pmsl ;D
