Had a phone call earlier on asking how far I would travel to clean a carpet ?
What she said next I couldnt quite believe...she told me it was for her sister who lives in SW London...
I live in Newcastle upon Tyne !!
A grand total of 600 mile round trip !
When I realised it was'nt a wind up I explained to her I work on approx £30/£40 per hour...to get to SW London and back would take say 10 hours PLUS the cost of cleaning her carpet...do the sums !!
She changed her mind !

I have customers who live right next door to me and customers who live seventy miles from me. I would regularly travel from about ten to thirty miles. My first call tomorrow is about twenty miles away ( Ramelton), then another fifteen miles or so on to my next job in Fanad, and finally back home over the magnificent new Harry Blaney Bridge on Mulroy bay.

Sorry, cannot afford that kind of money in time or diesel.
My van was new on 01 Dec 2006, mileage under 24,000 !!!

Hi Guys
I travel if it's worth it in overall time vs money.
So a job I did near Cambridge at 480 was worth it but wouldn't have been at 300.
Distance in cities can be misleading, 20 miles in London can take longer than 100 miles outside!
Cheers

We work in a 60 mile radius. Any further, and we charge travel costs. We try to book 2 or more jobs for an area that far away and it generally works. We have a guy over here though that will do an "End of tenancy" 3 bed house for around 90 quid. He travels all over Germany to do Army quatrers and doesn't charge extra for distance.
I know for a fact, he did one recently for around 100 quid and it was at least a 340 mile round trip. Even if he did 2 on the same day, it would still be a rubbish day. We used to try and compete when we first started CC, now we don't bother. Just charge what we think is a decent price and go for it.

Can see why some guys on here charge a lot more than me.
I rarely have to travel more than 5 or 6 miles to a job.
Average about 4 miles, 10 - 15 minutes driving.
Friday did 3 jobs, grand total of £220 and total of 13 miles.
