I have a HOST machine (purchased recently) with three sets of brushes - gold (very soft) white (medium) and black and white (medium / stiff).
I recently spoke to the HOST distributor in my area and he told me that in order to do any residential carpets I would have to buy the gold and white brushes which are slightly softer than the white ones. Being that these are the only ones I dont have (exept black which are used for hard floors) I was wondering if I could use white on domestic carpets which are not wool, i.e polyprop , nylon etc or even if I could use white on wool aswell.
Anyone using HOST, what brushes do you use?

Hi Steve
I have used Host machines for over 20 years. Mainly white brushes or black and white. On very few carpets or rugs I use gold brushes. I have used white brushes on wool carpets with a good result and no problems or damage. Hope this helps.

Ive used white on wool but it does bring up alot of fluff. Is this damaging the carpet I'm not sure. I wouldnt use white on a chinese rug or a 100% wool berber.
Whats wrong with the gold?
Ive used the black on tile but as the machine isnt that heavy its not that effective. A heavy rotary is best.
