Title: Leafleting rotations
Post by: wayne zabel on May 08, 2010, 09:09:54 am
Just wondering wether you would leaflet the same areas and if so what time span would you leave it.

I did a big estate about 2 months ago and got nothing, just wondering wether to try again soon.

I pay for four areas to be leafletted each month on a rotating basis, so each gets done every four months, seems to work for me.

Wayne why dont you do them yourself? I was out yesterday, put about 200 through, took a couple of hours and got £250 worth of work from it. The problem with using other people is you never know how many are actually going through the letterboxes (as I have found to my cost)!!

I do them myself at the moment.

I'm a newbie who is still in the day job at the moment and I do CC at weekend and evening with the intention of going full time CC when I have built up enough work/contacts/clients.

Fitting everything in is difficult, but its the chicken or egg situation - cant give up work until I have enough CC and I wont get enough work CC while still in the day job

Anyway I'm of out leafleting now  ;D

Done 7000 since Jan, 3 jobs from them so far :( ,
Did 1000 last year when i started up got 5 jobs from them dont bother with teenagers, i have had no end of people say i will deliver for you but when they realise what hard work it is they lose interest most i have done in 1 day is 800 that is 5 hours solid walking :P its not a good long term strategy better to get regular deliveries out but finding them is very hard. >:(

Yes I have a web site which was professionally done about 2 months ago.

I have started doing evening now the light nights are here obviously only do work that can be done in 2 hours maximum.

I have been picking up 5 jobs a week for the last 4/5 weeks but not had a call for 4 days now ???

Well Terry one of those customers was a newby £95 and the other will amount to about £140 but are a regular customer. I think dropping a leaflet through their door made them call me again. Sometimes you can wander the streets for days and not get a sausage but its better than waiting for the phone to ring I suppose!

Wayne, there is a local free magazine for us local traders to advertise in, they do leaflets at £25(+vat)  per 1000. Each month they deliver 5-6000 for me.

I don't envy you keeping the day job going, I really would suggest jacking it in and leafletting when yoy have no cleaning booked, thats what I did, after a couple of months I found I had no time left to go leafletting!

Good points there from Phillip and i did the same thing with the leaflets. Not sure i would book you to come clean my carpet if you told me you would be coming in the evening, not good really and gives an air of "is this guy a chancer" doing it on the side.

I understand what you are saying but its not been a problem so far,if someone is prepared to do weekends and evenings then it means that customers dont have to take time off work just to have carpets cleaned.Sometimes I tell a few porkies such as I'm helping other CC on large jobs to fill my diary, other times I can be honest and say that I've only been trading for 6 months and still part time.

When I tell them that I'm in a transitional position and between still working and going full time CC and show them my training certificates to reasure them that I'm not a cowboy they seem to accept it.

If the job I do is good then they are happy.

I realise that its not perfect and soon I'm going to have to bite the bullet and go full time, but when the phone hasn't rung for 5 days you have second thoughts.

I would just say...... "I'm very busy, I only have the evening & weekend appointments available" and leave it at that, start talking about transition positions and you will start putting doubts in their minds

Thats a good point Mike, a good way around it. I know its a tough decision Wayne going fulltime, but with your positive attitude you will get there, just keep plugging away and it will come sooner rather than later.

i'm sure we discussed this for wayne before in another thread (sorry if goy wrong guy wayne) and it was said that best to be honest and open as possible with customers and not lie to them. if they found out that you were pretending to be full timer but only just started would go down real bad.

with that said i try to give the impression that i've been going for years
