.......anyone able to help with seperating the sections when they get super stuck
-
Hammer. ;D
No seriously mate, you've got problems.
I'm a strong guy but couldn't do it.
Had to get me and Ian Giles both wearing rubbers gloves and twisting and pulling.
Needless to say we fell over... ;D

;D mine got super stuck today as well, i cranked the l5 to its hottest and covered the joint 3 or 4 times letting it cool off each time.
-
Rubber gloves, maybe a squirt of wd40, hold near the joint as possible and twist clockwise. Easy peasy
-
Next time you put it together wrap a couple of turns of electrical tape around the male so it can't slide in super tight. Also lubricate the joint with ptfe spray or vaselene.
-
Two men, rubber gloves & twist clockwise
-
Thought I read somewhere that you should twist " anti " clockwise. ???
-
I'm pretty sure its clockwise mate, you twist in the opposite direction you would normally to undo something and you turn lids & caps anticlockwise
-
cooking sunflower oil and some good glove, might need a second pair of hands.
-
Lubrication,joints, spray & vaseline!!
Whats this soiled forum becoming? :P

The best way to get the two sections apart is to use two people and rubber gloves. Get one strong person to hold the top section firmly (without crushing), make sure they hold the section above the joint overlap. The second person needs to then hold the lower section as close to the joint as possible and twist the section in a clockwise direction (this will look like you are turning it the wrong way!). Do not try to pull the section apart at all, as soon as a little twisting happens then you can start to exert some pulling force, but still mainly twisting. If this is to no avail then some heat may help. A heat gun lightly applied will help with this process.
Once they have separated we use Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline!) which seems to reduce the friction after extended work periods. However, it needs to be used sparingly. After applying PTFE spray, wipe a very thin layer over the male joints. It seems to give more friction to the joint on light contact which is good as it grips without needing to be tight, but then even under pressure it allows the joint to separate with greater ease. I'm finding that it only needs re-applying every couple of months.
This is a post previously by Alex himself...

The easiest way I found was to turn one pole clockwise and the other anti clockwise, Don't pull on the poles.
-
tried all these aprt from heat so ill try that next staff and expensive poles do not mix
-
Hot air gun then allow to cool, repeat often until they start to move easily, usually the next morning.
-
If you get them apart, wrap some insulation tape just below the joints next time and you'll never need to bother with PTFE spray again.

young micheals not knackering yr poles is e m8 :o :o :o :o

The best way to separate stuck pole sections takes THREE people. I know this from having the same problem on occasions with a fishing pole.
You get a person on each side of the joint pulling gently in a STRAIGHT line whilst the third person holds the pole each side of the joint and gently rotates the sections. It may take a little while but it almost ALWAYS works, and doesn't snap your expensive pole sections.
The best way to avoid this is to try and keep your sections dry as you insert them; and clean the pole regularly.
I knew that going fishing far more than the wife likes would come in handy at some point ;D
Good luck ;)

some of the sections are clockwise, some are clockwise. you can tell by looking closely at the top of the section. definately rubber gloves and 2 people will do it. Someone mentioned about tape the end so it doesnt get wedged in again. good idea
-
I couldnt be bothered reading all the other suggestions, but they need turning clockwise rather than anticlockwise. It can be instinct to turn anti.

that sounds quite rude ;D im glad i know wot u were talkin about ;D ;D ;D

when mine stick together i take it to my local fishing tackle shop and they sort it out in minutes. one man at each end pulling and one man in the middle where the two sections are stuck. he then uses both of his hands to make a circle and then sort of wobbles the pole, works everytime.

How you getting on with them Ronnie ??

Thank you Mark, that's what I said; fishing's so bloody useful isn't it!!!
