Title: Harris pole...?
Post by: Sir Squeaky on May 05, 2010, 04:19:22 pm
I had yet another pole snap on me today, this time on the connection, so no way of mending it.
It's taped up and splitting on every section anyway.

Think I might pop out tonight and get a Harris pole.
Shouldn't be too hard to bung a brush on the end.
For the higher jobs I'm hoping I can wedge a couple of big modular pieces on the end...

Question is...where do I get one?

Do I have to go to B&Q (in Newport, nearly 20 miles away), or do they have them in Homebase (in our town)?

Squeaks,
ring them first. 20 miles is a long way to travel if they are out of stock.

Look on u tube for the vid that WW did on the harris pole conversion.
Just cut the end off of a brush handle and fit it inside of the first section of the harris pole.

Nah, just hacksaw the end off the Harris, wrap two turns of gaffer tape round it, and Scrimmy's adapter just slots over it.  I reckon I can do it under two minutes.

And then you can just slip the brush head off, and put it on a shorter or longer pole; depending on what you're doing.

Unless I can patch up the carbon pole any more I'll need it for work tomorrow.

Broomhandle down the end - job done. Just make sure it's the bentley variety that fits Vikans and Superlights.

Got one in my van doing nothing - horrible thing with horrible clamps horrible waste of fifteen pounds.  ::)

Really? What's wrong with it then?

As it is I managed to feed one section of my broken pole through the next section and tape it up and it'll do until I get something else. Bit shorter though!

The clamps on the harris pole are some of the best clamps I have ever used, although I normally use my harris pole clampless for speed!!

I can't believe your admitting to getting a harris pole Sqeaky after all the stick you gave me in the past about my harris pole!!!!  ;D

To be fair Groundhog, the harris pole clamps are not the best in the world, and are a right cow when they lock up, but for £15 you can't complain  ;D

Lock up? you must be limp wristed or something!! I have never had that problem, I honestly find them excellent clamps, easy and effective to use. The worst clamps I ever used was on the powerpole from omnipole, now they were horrible clamps!!

Limp wristed you cheeky git.  :P

Omnipole clamps I agree they are far worse and as the pole is about 400 x the price I would say harris rocks.

But harris clamps have locked up a couple of time, but is on same pole so not sure if it is knackered or not  :-\

I never said anything about the Harris pole other than it looked rattly. Perhaps it is, but fed up of snapping poles.
