I've always used mono's but I find them not adequate enough for first cleans. Yesterday I did a very dirty first clean, and most stuff came off, but there was dirt that didn't come off, but with a quick scrub of a microfibre, it was gone. That was with going over the pane two times, rinse, then another time, then rinse again, put a bit pressure on the brush too.
It seems to have gotten worse with my newer superlite brush, my old one I didn't have such problems with. I roughly bought them around the same time, so I'm not even sure if it is indeed a different revision brush. I think it's a mark 2. Also, it seems very hit and miss on first cleans ie. spotting, whereas before I barely had any problems on first cleans.
I'm thinking of swapping over to a flocked brush for first cleans, and then do maintenance cleans with a mono. That, or swap back to my old brush, see what difference that makes.

Tucker brush and trim the stock down to the bare minimum. Can reduce it down to the same weight as the superlight brush. Tucker scrubs heaps better but the only drawback is on some rubber seals that leach if you use hot water the Tucker causes it to run easier if rinsing brush on. Fine with cold water.
