Hi , i want to know the life of resin , in terms of litres per di fill.
My TDS is always around 100 , just wanna know if anybody has ever taken note of litres of water treated at 100 TDS ?
Im only on DI if that helps , FH1.
Cheers Rich P @ F

Not enough :(
I've just started using DI cartridges and pole (Ionic system) and I am finding that I am getting through the resin far too fast. Even slowing the flow rate to a bare minimum the resin changes colour way too rapidly.
Going the DI route may be the 'cheapest' way to get a set up but the running costs are the killer.
I want to go for a full RO system at some point but finances just don't stretch that far at present. I guess I will have to use the WFP sparingly and continue with the ladders for now.

but you can get a RO unit for 80 odd quid these days

I could be wrong but I'm sure it's in an earlier post from last year. It's some formula for a 25kg bag of resin. you divide 500000 by your tds reading.
500000/100 = 5000 litres
-
yep i think rob is right 500,000 divided by your tds reading.

Call me a dinnie if you want , what your sayin then is an £85 bag of resin will do me around 5000L of water in total , at 100 TDS

HOLY POOP ,
That means that if i use 300L a day , thats only about 15 days work !
Roughly £30 a week on resin .
I know its not major but will havin RO reduce the resin use by much ?

Unfortunately that sounds about right for resin usage.
Going to get myself and RO unit and tanks asap otherwise I think I'll end up paying my customers to clean their windows..... ::)
-
Right then S.Page what are we gonna do , i cant be spending that a week on resin !
Have you got any idea about what sort of system to get then ?
I am lookin at 300L a day max {65 G }
And i just forked out £850 for the wfp , so cheap would be nice !

Going to look into it. Need to get an RO unit and a tank fitted. Unfortunatley I use an estate car not a van at the moment so fitting it out will be a little tricky. I spoke to a someone today and he thought that a 200 litre tank system would give around 2 to 2.5hrs cleaning which to be honest ain't much... With that sort of setup I would need to have storage tanks at home, be a hastle going back and forth all day too.
Needs some thought. I shall look on this forum for hints tips and advise. I haven't outlayed quite as much as you P & F but finances are tight so I need to make it cheap too. Watch this space

I use a 100gallon a day from ro-man ( £145), fills a 225 ltr water butt up in 12 hours on my water presure, you can add up to 2 more 100 gallon membrane's( £62.50 each ) to it if you need more water ,
If it's speed of water you want then it's got to be a Merlin for around £329 , that pumps it out super fast
you will need to hook up you di unit at the end to give you PURE water - I only use a 10 inch one and havn't had to change resin for 4 month
-
i have merlin ro and 10inc di my tap tds 375 after ro 40tds and have to change resin every time i fill my 1000 lt tank 25 kg resin only lasted me 7 wks

I have a 200 gpd system and my tds is 1019 (no it is not a typing error). My ro gets the water down to around 16ppm a bag of resin has lasted me a year.
A merlin would only bring my readings down to about 70ppm. Thats far too expensive for resin for me.

HEY VINCEY BOY , HOW GOES IT ?
Plympton TDS 100.
I spoke to customers in Ivybridge today and they said that i could fill my tank there , TDS WAS ONLY 38 , ITS GONNA BE BETTER FOR ME .
As regards to compton , they sorted my system and checked my water so it is the right reading ,
If i got RO on my 100 water what sort of reading do you reckon id get after treatment ?

Interesting, Ionic told me that resin would last at least 1.5 mnths at a cost of £80 which
I thought not bad. Thanks for this info , slowly changing my mind about Ionic.

have you thought about a trailer system,
there are many sizes and weights available from us and other suppliers,
you can then simply connect it up to your estate car and use it when necassary,
there available in DI or RO with various tanks sizes from us. relatively cheap to purchase
(not a plug just a thought.
