Title: Advertising on lamp posts
Post by: Murdie window cleaning on May 04, 2010, 03:48:00 pm
As the country is once again awash with political partys sticking signs on every lamp post going, it reminded me of a company near me that stuck up there own signs on poles and posts all round the area when they started up(not window cleaning). I was wondering has any one any idea where you can get these signs made and have any of you actualy done this ?

I'm not sure how legal it would be, but the way I look at it is put them up in areas I want to either gain work or gain more work, couple it with leafleting and door knocking. If after a while the council ask me to take them down, by that point the job should be done.

Does anyone trust any of those lamp post adverts? "Earn £400-£1000 each week part time"

It's like selling flowers at traffic lights, you cant fault people for actually doing something, but not a great business move.

Good shout for the lawn Signs.

If you want work in areas you already work you could do worse than ask the customer if you could pop a lawn sign in for a week or so.

If this had been thought of last month then it could have been run along side the election.
"I've placed my vote for Sunshine Cleaning" Followed by a couple of rounds of flyers that area would get to know you.

That's the kind of sign I'm meaning, but obviously with my details on  ::).

I'm not to concerned if the council tell me to take them down, because by the time they get round to it they'll have been up for long enough anyway. It's all about getting my name known in an area. The more people see the name the more embedded it becomes in there minds.

I'm thinking that allot of my flyers have ended in the bin along with all the political leaflets that have been dropped lately.

Is that the image you are trying to portray? Who trusts people who advertise on lamp posts?

If the flyer and lawn sign stand out from the crowd they will be noticed. If they are like any other they will be invisible.

I had some success with thinking outside the box and while lamp posts are outside the box the image it portrays just isn't right for me.

Round here the council take a dim view of what they regard as 'fly posting'.  They photograph the ad attached to the lamp post, then take it down, then prosecute the person doing the advertising.

Be careful. Flyposting is the same as graffiti in the eyes of the law.
