I did my 1st paid for cleaning jobs over the weekend and wanted to thank everyone thats given me any advice over the past couple of months. The carpets were filthy but all polyprop so came up very pleasing. Have been worrying all night waiting for someone to call with a complaint, but so far so good.
Anyway thanks for all the advice, in particular, Roger, Wayne, Joe and Dereck.

pleased for you jim. I know exacly what you mean about waiting for the call-back! Only time and more jobs will mean you eventually stop waking up in the night thinking that something has gone wrong.
Roger
PS Glad you got your trip-valve sussed. Been there as well.

Well done Jim.
You will only loose half a night sleep next time. ;D
Been waiting for a call back myself since last Friday.
Thursday I did the bedroom, landing and stairs in a nice victorian house, then used Protect Nano to finish.
All looked ok when I left.
During Thursday evening (I was out with my phone on silent), she called me twice and left a voice message on my office phone.
Breathing fire, I had ruined her carpets, she wanted a new carpet, compensation, refitted, we taking photos for the solicitor etc - it had rippled.
It was 10pm on Thursday when I picked up her messsge so I text her back and left a message something like
"its not common for a carpet to ripple but it does happen. By this time tomorrow evening it will be flat again".
Not heard a dicky bird from her since - I guess she may be a bit embarrassed after her rant on the Thursday evening. Cant blame her though - I have only seen rippling 3 times in 18 years, so it must be frightening when the custy comes home and the carpet is waving at her.

Joe dont mind the ripples its the shrinkers that keep you up ;D
-
Joe, Does it ripple because you get the backing wet??

Hi Adam
Water has a lot to do with it. ;)
If you do a search you may find different theories as to why this happens. I just been on Cleantalk and quiet a few different guys expressing their opinion on there.
I have wet other carpets more then this one, so overwetting in this case would not be the problem particularly.
As I was applying Protect Nano after cleaning I though that may have added to the wetting, but its a fine mist you apply.
So - just one of those things that cannot be foreseen.
-
Joe,could it have been perhaps the Protective Nano coating
That had some chemical effect on the wetting agents on the
Chemicals you used making the water `wetter`.The function
Of wetting agents in additives is as I understand it is to make
Water `wetter`. Thus making it easier for moisture to get to the
Backing especially if it was an open and not dense weave. ?
