Any one tried this? Had a call a couple of times from the local station offering some tempting deals.

Simon Gerrard would probably be the most qualified to tell you about this, from what I can remember I do nt think that he was very impressed with the results he got from it.
I once did a Changing rooms thing for a hospital and had plenty of mentions on red dragon radio but I think that only about 2 people I know actually heard it. I dont think that I got any work from it.
A lot of people (like my self) would listen to the bbc stations because I get cheesed off hearing the same adverts. It is dificult in this day and age to get a realistic return from most advertising medias and a lot of the time  it is a waste of money. I myself have had to cut back on most of the advertising I used to do because it just does not bring any return.

Hi Peter,

Thank's for feedback. Interesting what you say about ad's in general. I think many, with some exception's ;), will echo your thought's.

Radio is for corporate branding, in other words hammering a recognised name and place to visit for deals ect. Not for a one man carpet cleaning band.  ::)

It plays on the subconscious mind and not the reactive mind. I will give you an example, you are driving along and you hear "Warburtons bread, the quality choice" then you hear "Frank Smiths quality carpet cleaning call now for a free quote 0800 12345678".
You hear them both but subconsciously your mind does not recognise Frank Smiths carpet cleaning so forgets it almost immediately. On the other hand Warburtons has been recognised by you subconscious mind and logged without you knowing about it. You then drive passed a truck with the name Warbertons on the side again you log this.

Next time you shop the Warbertons brand becomes more recognisable than other brands, you won’t understand why it just does. This is due to heavy corporate branding.

I looked at it last year.
Very expensive and I concluded it wouldnt work for me.
Another carpet cleaner in Warrington did it. He dont advertise on the radio now - so he either made a fortune and dont need a repeat or it flopped.

We've done it a couple of times over the years and been disappointed both times.
You have to have a lot of money to speculate on this and you have to be in it for the long run, we did both and got very little in return.

The real issue is that the majority of people in this country DO NOT have their carpets cleaned on a regular basis, WHY? Well that's the million dollar question and that is the question we in the carpet cleaning industry need to answer.

One of the advantages of going on the Alltec Fast Track was that all the systems and strategies were tried and tested, this also applied to radio advertising. We were advised not to waste our money on that medium.

Hi

I know a two franchised Rainbow's that tried it, advertising carpet cleaning.  A mere 8k was thrown at it. Lets just say fools and their money where soon parted.

I think you would get a better return leaving the money in the bank, even with such poor rates of return.
