Have you gone door knocking on bank holidays and how did you get on, i want to do some on monday just bit unsure as dont want to upset to many people thanks guys have a good weekend

Personally i wouldn't. I try not to canvass on bank holiday weekends because a lot of people tend to be out, on holiday or socialising etc . If it were me i would leave it til tuesday and you may get a better response.

Try it and see what happens if after a few hours you get the feeling ur not welcome theres always tomorrow

Saturdays - Sundays and bank holidays are the bst days for door knocking, nearly everyone is at home.
You will find that a lot of you new customers from canvassing will say they have been looking for a window cleaner for ages, because they go to work they don't see the window cleaners who already work their area, so when yopu turn up they will welcome you with open hands.
I am going knocking on monday, l would have gone door knocking this sunday as well but I have to go to london to price up a new job.

Canvassing on a Bank hols Monday is fine people will be fine with it....

No I stopped using Scotty last year, his new terms & conditions where unrealistic.
I have placed a advert with the job centre for my own canvassers, the goverment is even going to give my £1000 for each one I take on as well 8)
I am really pushing my business forwards, I want at least 6 window cleaners working full time by the time I reach 50 (23 October 2011).
I then go into semi-retirement. ;)

no chance :o why waste good money on something that you can make up yourself for a fraction of the cost 8)

Don't second geuss your custies mate. Same with working in wet weather, some will, some wont, if you see what I mean.

I only collect from one customer and I only do that every 6 months :) when I am due to clean their windows I either text or telephone, and if they are not going to be in they either put the payment somewhere safe or they post or bac it into my bank account.
Back to the canvassing issue, I use to be a door to door canvasser and I found that saturdays - sundays and bank holidays where the best days to door knock.
I think the reason is, in the week they are at work all day and get stressed, then they come home and all they want to do is relaxed.
This is then broken by you ringing the door bell and even though they are ok when they open the door, their mind is switched off to what you are saying, so they automatically say "no thank you".
On their days of rest, they are not stressed out and their mind is open to what you are saying and you have a beter response.
Now before the "sunday is precious brigard" come out crying that you will go to hell ;D remember that most families like to go to sunday markets and car boots on their rest days, they enjoy it.
