Title: I need a pole and backpack what should i go for?
Post by: lcwalker on May 01, 2010, 09:27:07 am
Im going to have to bite the bullet and get a backpack and pole as not having a pole for hard to reach windows is hampering my canvassing, because im missing out the harder houses.
So what should i go for, one member a while back surgested the window cleaning warehouse yellow back pack i think it's around £100, also on ebay this pole looks ok to me for a start http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120521198624&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
what are your thoughts?.Any other surgestions would be helpfull also where can i buy some pure water from is there anyone near haverhill / subury suffolk who could sell me some thanks in advance.

Ive got a shurflo backpack and think its great, but any old one will do, its only a water carrier with pump and battery on it at end of day. Window cleaning warehouse one should be fine although i hear its only got one setting which is fast with a 80psi pump? I dont know

Pole looks ok, little bit on the heavy side but if its only for the odd window here and there be fine.

wcw backpacks ideal if you are only using it for the awkward windows , if you plan on doing all the windows go for the shurflo this will save your water as its got 4 speed setting . you could do a search for red hat diving as john hewitt as got some backpacks .
as sensai says the pole looks heavy .

With wcw backpack you can controll the flow with the hozelock flow control tap that it comes with, I have this and I find it very easy to control.

I dont want a van mount i use my van for my gardening work aswell so theres no way a ride on mower and water tank are going to fit in, i only want a backpack for hard to reach windows my partner does the down stairs trad.

I use a back pak and pole works very well. The 18 litre from williams pumps will be good but remember it will be heavy.Yet still a good buy.Bayosan pole I saw at windex it looked a good pole.18 foot should reach up to 2 nd floor. But if you can affort a extra 7 foot it would help to reach windows set back from the rest. Also take a look at brodex poles good price.

You will have to carry water with you whatever you choose, I'm sure you could find room for a small 125ltr tank and a hose reel, it would be a lot easier that messing about with backpack and 25ltr containers, I can assure you of that!!  ;)

be carefull you dont burn out pump that way, i have a shurflo 5yrs old , still going,
used on its own for 18 mths  , now got a van mount , but still use for some jobs , the 4 speeds are good , i use setting 1 for applying tfr to fascia , conservatory roof's, settings 2 and 3 for windows dont use the 4th speed.
