Title: Lily pollen on wool carpet?
Post by: swjack on August 15, 2005, 09:48:25 pm
Hi me again.

Had a friend phone me to ask about removal of lily pollen from a wool carpet, she had already wet it, rubbed it and used some cleaning agent too attempt to remove it, this has made the stain worse. I have no machinery or chemicals at the moment is there tips you could share with me.

Thanks

Once you add water to pollen you alter its state and turn it in to a pigment, and this 99 times out of a 100 is permanent, sorry i couldn't be more help.

Hi,

White spirit is effective on untreated pollen but as said above the dissolving of the pollen has probably caused a permanent stain.

Cheers

Ecospotter from that man works a treat. I had a vase with water and 12 lilies, a real mess. It had dried by the time I got there but the pollen fell out. You may be lucky.

Ive tried citrus Gel and eco spotter but by far the best thing is solutions chewing gum remover (you might laugh) but it has worked a couple of times for me when the others havnt.
