might be a stupid question but how do you measure the surface area

To get the area :-
measure the length and the width and Multiply them together ie
10m x 10m = 100m2

In construction there are laser measurers and theres rotasure measuring wheels.....

Does anyone use a Leica DISTO™ D2 measuring instruments for indoor calculations or is it more straight forward.
