Title: Web sites.
Post by: actualcleaning on April 30, 2010, 06:25:22 pm
I am just in the process of getting a new website put together. What i would like to know (honest answers please)...do those who have their own websites find that it actually brings business in?
I suppose we could ask how many enquiries first and then conversion rates if you dont mind divulging that information.
Thanks  :)

To be honest I'm really at a lost as to what's going on or wrong, on my Pc I'm first placed with some keywords yet nothing.

ive had my site  since last summer and its raked in allsorts of unusual jobs i would never have got by doorknocking/leaflets such as 4th floorwork .i get about20 hits per day generally, HOWEVER being honest  i prefer the run of the mill ordinary work and most likely i will be pulling plug on my website at summers end as im working flatout now anyway

I do get some calls/e-mails for jobs out of my area which I pass on to guys closer to hand which suits me fine as they pass on work to me also. I also get calls for national contracts which I'm simply not able to consider being a one man band,.. so again I pass these on to someone who is more able to manage them. The rest (prob half of all that contact me) are local and within my abilities and I get approx half the jobs I quote for. To date I have approx €1100 per month of mainly commercial work that I know came direct through my website.
Its important to design & optimise your site  to work with Google, and get your keywords spot on, otherwise you won't see nearly the results you should.
Just in case you peek at my website,.. I know its a bit dated, I'm planning a complete overhaul in a couple of months with 2 separate sites, one aimed at commercial clients & one aimed at gaining residential work.

Mine brings in nothing doesn't even get any hits  ::)

What's your website address? I might be able to help

number of hits doesn't mean that  many people visited your website, if the same person clicks on different pages each one counts as a hit

If you look at the page source for your website you can see that you've got masked forwarding setup to different hosting. The masked forwarding is stopping Google indexing any of your website content. Simply changing your hosting would make a big difference.

My website stats are below,.. nothing particularly amazing but it'll give you an idea of the numbers you should be looking for as a minimum:

I made mine free.

http://souterwindowcleaning.weebly.com/

Probably took me 2 days in total.

I've had 5 jobs from it.

It helps in other ways too though, i.e. educating customers.
