have some in the van but never used them
-
I only use them on public roads and pavement, I don't use them on private ground of residential customers.
Matt
-
Same as Matt ... also use them in car parks of a couple of my commercial jobs
-
I only use them on commercial properties and when I am unable to park my motor on the drive and it croses the path when there is a risk of people tripping over it
-
Pavements, one either side of the pavement so as not to block folks pathway.
-
I use one if there is any chance that a member of the public could trip over my hose. Often use two or more f it's on a commercial job. Never use any if I'm backed into someones property.

Same as Dave. mine are the plastic "A" shape ones & they blow over if you sneeze ::) need to get some cone type ones.

I bought three last week from fleabay. £50 free postage. Window cleaning superstore
I've never heard of them before. Think they may be cheaper on ebay.

i have 5 cones i bought from the local screwfix depot and use them on quite a few commercial jobs i do. i have a dispute running with a local bus company though as a bus drove past me whilst i was working ( i was wearing hi-viz ) and the bus took out my cones and nearly hit me >:(
the bus company are doing there best to drag it out though and keep forgetting to get in touch, they even called me a liar and said i never contacted them at all about it!
its been 9 months now and i think a letter to the local paper may be in order
-
no. i have 1job i do in my local high street & each time ive put them out,
the bloody public kick them out the way ::) so i dont bother now :-\ let them get wet ;D
-
We use them wherever we think there is risk to another person other than ourselves.
Of course it does create a problem because in theory when operating in a public area if you put a warning sign out it follows that you should provide a risk assessment and method statement
-
i use them when i feel they are needed like when my hose crosses a path the public use, i got 3 from wcw for £32

Pretty much the same for but when I need the hose to cross the public footpath, I also lay rubber mat(s) over it.
-
I don't use them, if they can't see a bright yellow hose then really should try specsave :)

I agree!

I think to cover yourself as much as possible you should use a warning sign if you're hose crosses a public footpath, I know if it's just a quick job then away the teptation will be not to bother, but if someone was to trip over your hose then you could be in all kinds of problems.
Cover yourself, you don't need the hassle of someone trying to make a claim.
-
Always.

I know what you are saying but .....
Is it definately law that you need warning cones?
Even warning cones can be a hazard, do the warning cones need warning cones?
The binmen round here leave the green bins and black boxes scattered all over the pavement, I think if our hoses are classed as a hazard then a wheelie bin/ box definately is, and they ain't got warning cones around them :o
-
seems like the majority use them , according to gardiners site ,a window cleaner was succesfully sued, after a member of the public tripped over his hose, even though he had warning cones out , the fact he was using clear hose(i presume they mean pole hose), represented an avoidable hazard, so now they supply yellow pole hose.
anybody know who the window cleaner was?
