Title: Metal frame for van...
Post by: bassjamm on April 29, 2010, 05:24:40 pm
Hi all,

Just wondered if any of you have had a metal frame fabricated for your WFP setups in your vans?

So, something to go around the tank that has mounts for your pumps, reels, battery and maybe even some kind of holder for your poles?

I'm thinking of having one built for me, but I don't really know where to start, nor the profession to be searching for, nor the price range..!!!

I'm guessing I need to find a welder, or metal worker of some kind?

What d'you think?

Any thoughts or input would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Jamie

Fabricator - look for an engineering company.

Some decent 'old fashioned' type garages would prob do it as well

Hi Darran, just trying to help someone out, I think that is allowed? No link to my site or anything.  Makes the forum a better place if people get answers to the questions they ask, with a link to where they can buy one instantly.  I may be wrong though.

If you don't see me on the forum for a while, you will know I was wrong.

If you supply the parts pump etc .. (not the frame)
I paid about £700 including electrics.

Hi soapy, are you asking if I supply these other items? If you are then yes I do.

dont know what size tank you have got but found these on ebya http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/650-Litre-Upright-Baffled-Water-Tank-FITTING-STRAPS-/120562451852?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_HomeGarden_CLV_Cleaning_CA&hash=item1c1215058c#ht_720wt_1165

Thanks for that, but I was thinking something more along the lines of a metal frame that surrounds the tank with mounts for the reels and pumps, etc.

Thanks though.

The problem with the metal straps like on Ebay is you are very limited where the bolts can go down through the floor, especially when you need them to drop down both sides of the chassis for plating.  When you have a frame round the tank you have a much bigger area, and can drop the bolts exactly where they need to be.  They also have the disadvantage of not having a battery compartment.

Bassjamm, you don't usually have the hose reel attached to the frame as it is far better situated at your rear door, so that it is easier to use standing at the back door.
