The semca is 135 psi.

I bough one as my first machine, ran with it for nearly a year, now upgraded to 400 psi ninja so it is my back up. It works, but a bu**er to get upstairs - weighs 36 kg when empty. I could run 50 foot of hose though so no probs with most domestic jobs.
Doing the best job in the world as well as I can

If the Semca has 135psi and 2 - 3 stage vac motors and is ok at 50 foot - it seems pretty good value because the price on Ebay was the nett price - no VAT.
Hoses seemed a bit short though - 15' if I remember rightly - and suction/solution hose is not too cheap.

Pete Sweeney mentioned this earlier - hardly used - looks a good 2nd hand buy.
Someone else iterested so make an enquery quick if you think you may be up for it.

If things dont work out you may be able to sell this easier then a Semca (in my opinion)

With all that comes with it, Dominics looks quite good.

If the Ninja was not available I would perhaps say have a go for the Prochem.

But the Ninja is a better deal at £850.
By the way its not 50metre of hoe its 50ft which is pretty good.
Would get you into most upstairs corners of a house from the hallway.

Get yourself some M-Power from Solutions uk or Nemesis Super from Restormate.
Pretty safe fluids to start with and they are "green". They are not going to remove everything from a carpet but they will do a pretty good job.
These need some agitation for them to work. Either a good long handled carpet brush (£20) or there is an Envirodri machine on sale in the For Sale section - £250 (new about £950). These are a carpet cleaner in themselves (but not as good as hot water extraction), they uses sponges, but many of us use them for agitation as well.

I have about £1000 to spend and want a professional carpet cleaner. Am I asking too much with only £1k?

Thanks

I'm a professional carpet cleaner! I'll take your £1k... Thanks!

Thanks Joe will do.

Is there a web site that will tell me what things are? I mean on the Ninja thread someone's mentioned an inline heater and hotbox, I wondered what they were and why they are needed. Also in the spec Dominic said
1x 3 stg hd vac motor
1x 3 stg std vac motor
1 x 120 psi high flow ind motor w/flow control
1 x adj 3kw heater w/low level cut-off
1 x internal v2 steammate
50ft hose
1 x 2 jet wand
1 x stainless steel hand tool 11.5 cm std spray
*****1 x dry vacuum kit ( needs new connecting hose )*****
1 x pump out hose
+ extras mentioned above in first post.

Does it have a vacuum cleaner on it and what would the connector cost. Sorry for all the questions I am just doing my best to understand

You don't 'need' the inline heater but extra heat helps clean better. At least it does on this forum.

That bit is the V2 steamate in the spec

The 3k immersion heater sits in the tank like a kettle element so it's heating all the water while you set up. then when you clean the inline heater heats up the water going though the hose.

have you looked at ashby's site?

You are no different to everyone else starting out, there is a steep learning curve. Sounds like you need more time to assimulate what you need, after all there is no rush is there.

There will be other 'bargains' in the future and you will be better placed to grab them armed with more knowledge and a few contacts maybe.

People on here are generally very giving with their knowledge and I would have gone under ages ago without this resource. Thank you Mr Boxall!

Looking at the Ashbys catalogue I have here - you can put a kit on that makes it a vac cleaner. Vac is essential prior to cleaning a carpet - get rid of the loose dirt first.
Most of us here will have a separate vac cleaner like a Sebo BS36 whic has 2 motors - one fro the brush and one for vac.
The whole dry vac kit costs £140 so a hose cant be much (if it cant be repaired).

That machine new without any of the hoses tools etc would be in excess of £1700 + vat.
Add on all the bits.......
