Fresh tarmac...use a surfactant it will help  "carry" the crap away and help  prevent it "sticking " again. Fairy is as good as any.

Mine separate at the trigger and I use quick release for nozzle changes, it doesn't split in the centre section

I have the same.
I think Bob means one with a low pressure  nozzle  on as well ...the type you "twist" the handle to alternate between low and high pressure . They are usually there to introduce soap but can be used for increased flow at low pressure....it looks like two lances attached on top of each other.

This is tarmac on a school, a mix of different soft to hard. Notice how we don't have the nozzle too close, don't let the pressure do the most work, let the heat tickle it/melt each piece off.

Where as harder surfaces like York Stone you can work much faster as demonstrated here by my brother, Chris. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zs9ST21IiE&index=34&list=UU6uGqco6i7spfOi1cUHCV1w

rob been looking at hotboxes and even though they state up to 150c i'm sure at max flow the water won't be as hot as they say , so are the hotboxes you posted links for yesterday adequate. also whats the difference with a hotbox and a dry steam setup.

I have a honda gx 190 5.5 hp which i think is 3.2 kw does this sound about right .

A hot box will only produce about 85c .
Wet steam is  100c and dry steam is wet steam that has been heated again till there are no water droplets left.
To keep dry steam dry you will need specially insulated hose and fittings because as the steam cools along it's journey ,it will recondense and become wet steam, cool it again it will become hot water etc.
If you can see the steam it's wet steam or hot water.
Machines like the Falch (the video Lee posted) are capable of producing   steam ...you will never achieve this from a hotbox . Although two hotboxes in series is will get there. First hotbox will get to 80 c plus then the next one will get you up around boiling depending on heat loss.
Your machine connected to a 15lpm hot box (21lpm would give better results) will do the job . It might be slower but possible.

Watch out for anything metal ,fitting s,lance etc as the become a bit unpredictable at higher temperatures ! Things that didn't leak might start to due to expansion.

Creighton

Huw is over your way, he has a heated machine, has a single operator dry steam machine. Might be worth having a word see if he will loan you the kit or something, if it comes off, save you buying and committing.

He does come on here but it is Seers www.seerclean.com

For a welsh person he is alright ;)

Sorry for late replies, been out trying to fix the vivaro

Chris - cheers, no they are singles, but the ones we hire for these jobs are as you described.

Lee - great vids, does the gum peel away or does it simply disintegrate ?

Some flick off but majority melt partially and flick away.

Ours are 2 in series. Not exactly sure but I think each burns at 68c each max but will produce 100c overall at 300 Bar. What the thermostat does is drop 10-20c every few minutes then rises back up to whatever it's set at. If we turn the unloader down to 50-100 Bar it'll produce around 130(So far I have achieved) but supposedly capable of 155c. 130 near enough whistles
