Does not look a bad site like the video :)

Where are you in the rankings ???

Yes my rankings are good!

Just type in 'carpet cleaners gloucester' into google and you will see.

I did all the search engine optimisation myself, it took about 8 months to get it in the Top 10!

Vista Print do a good package.
Choice of 3 starter, standard or pro and the pro is only about £10 a month.
Very easy to use.

Neil why have you got tiny text at the bottom of your page it looks silly and if Google catch on!

Well in my quest to get as high as I could via google I built and tried various things, and I knew jack quack about web sites and seo.
My first mistake was using an orange background which at the time looked quite decent with white script. What I didn't realise at that stage was that google decided white script was hidden script, hence why I wasn't getting anywhere >:( I then changed the script to black, problem solved other than it looked naff with black script on orange background.
I then choose a different background etc and the next problem occured when I did an SEO check to find out there wasn't enough usage of key words etc.
Now there's only so many times you can put 'carpet' 'cleaning' 'name of town' 'county' 'steam cleaning' etc without it looking daft in the script.
So yes in a way I have got around the problem for now by making up relevant sentances and putting it in small script at the bottom.
I know it doesn't look great but if I hide the script in white it will be a violation but at present I'm on page 1 of google and the hits average of 50 plus per day is serving a purpose.
In time when I have the other web sites high enough that I can tamper with the main one I tempted to just leave things as they are, at least this way I maintain control over it unlike if I pay someone else to deal with it.

why dont you add a big black box at the bottom and then write black text in it.
would that work?

No, because the google machines would pick that up as 'hidden text.'
Hidden text gets you an immiediate removal from google.
BMW tried it apparently by hiding text behind pictures and they got removed :o

Hi Guys

Neil is right what happens is that we adjust our websites to boost rankings and can end up with a bit of a mess.

However it is best to write proper prose than just list everything and as for the dodgy 'blackhat' schemes , avoid these.

I think it's always worth bearing in mind Google wants maximum relevancy, so if you build a relevant CC website  and do the linking things , you should get good rankings.

Cheers

Doug
