Hi Guys

56 and going strong.

20 mile cycle yesterday to keep up fitness levels and always buy with CC.

The main trouble I am finding is boredom, think I need to use my brain more!

Cheers

Doug

Here's another one - I'm 61 & working proper full time 5 days a week - my son does all the office stuff, so I don't even get a break to answer the phone.

Don't feel any different to 15 years ago, really - got knackered then & still do.

So you`re out all day cleaning max while your son is sitting in the office. Do you think there`s somethings not quite right there?!!! :D

Just wearing out the old ones first. Frankly I prefer just keeping my head down & banging out the work (we have 2 techs as well) rather than all that hassle & thrusting "executive" crap.

Coming up to 60 and work physically 12 hour days - normally 5 days a week but work sats about once a month. always bizzy bizzy! Also sub out overflow work, and on top run a domestic cleaning agency.

Had leukaemia 4 years ago - 10 months chemo kept me off but back to full fitness and very good remision. Swim in the sea every day i can, only missed 12 since last Christmas!

You put me to shame then   How did you manage your business while having Chemo   . I got told not to do Carpet Cleaning due to the dust . Anyway I had a job called beat the Cancer. I remember you from a few years back looks like you have done ok

Don't you think it gets easier as you get older and more experienced? I'm enjoying work more now than years ago, I'm earning more money, the jobs are easier and I get less problem from customers and the carpets.

I think the older you are the more the customer trust you and see you as 'experienced' I think a lot of the complaints carpet cleaners get disappear as you get older,

i think its harder for a carpet cleaner in his 20s (than one in his  50s) To make this business work.

Nearer 69 than my present 68 years, still going at the same pace as always during my 35 years in this business. Well maybe not going quite as mad during Christmas rush as I used to, doing evening as well as weekend, but defo a 6 day week.
Crap pension, so got to keep on going, I mean we could exist just on our pension, who wants to just exist, playing hard in what I enjoy is expensive.

59 in Feb and became a Grandad last Feb. Have been doing valeting as well as carpet cleaning for 20 years, still am a bit but love the carpet cleaning and meeting different people, its inside too, I've had enough of working in the wind and rain! I want to give up the valeting probably next year so long as I can get enough custy's for carpet cleaning. No health issues to worry about. Health is one thing we all depend on so can I take this opportunity and wish you all a Happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year. One thing I would recommend though is cod liver tablets. My dog has one a day and so do I ! Cannot believe the difference it has made to her ( she is 15 and runs around like a 5 year old now and always comes to work with me) and I believe has stopped the very first little signs of arthritis in me. Good for the joints.
