26 mph in a 20mph zone.

Just a warning letter - can you get done by Community Speed Watch volunteers?

Don't see how 20MPH are enforceable..
Community speed watch (CSW) are nowt more than Neighbourhood watch nobs wi hairdryer speed guns that are not calibrated and non enforceable.. They are doing it just to feel good about their little lives.

PCSO's Could if trained use a calibrated gun . but in Avon and somerset that doesn't happen. Wilts is probably the same.

When you see PCSO's stood alongside the CSW (Look at me I'm important) mob they are there simply as a comfort blanket..

Beware the real cop stood besides the CSW, cause they may well have a calibrated device.. They will hit you properly.
Dont assume its just the CSW muppets.. They could have a real device..

Top tip.

More people get tickets for giving the CSW nobletts the bird in passing or stopping and telling them they are a bunch of useless power hungry nobs.. or words to that effect, than get tickets for speeding.

A lot of people stop and aggressively tell them what they think..
And that my friends is an offence of Section 5 Public order act..

Thanks Jim - Westwood Village by the way. Saw them on the way through - couple of pensioners but must have forgotten about them on the way back at the end of the day.

There's village about 10 miles from me with a full time proper 20mph limit through it.
Agree on the rest of your post though.

Most of Bristol will be 20mph speed limit soon, the signs are popping up all over the place, it's ridiculous. You've got to drive round in 2nd gear most of the time.  >:(

Its the same (i think) as neighbourhood watch, so much as they work 'together' with the police...
So basically they hand over any details of offences over to old bill, who then send you the letter?
Cant enforce it though as pointed out above...

I know its ridiculous as they're doing it in places where there were no issues with speed in the first place!!

Obviously linked to DVLA. Letter comes from Wiltshire Police. They have my number now and have advised me I will be added to their list of persistent  speeders and monitored by their officers if it happens again even though my van has never been observed to be speeding by their records before.

I might go through on my bicycle tomorrow at the same speed for a laugh.  ;D
