You’ll not want or need to stick it down,  it’ll stay in place with it’s own weight. And useful to be able to remove it and clean dry underneath

Is it best to put straight onto wood ply-lined floor or rip wooden floor up and put straight onto metal floor?

I've got a partner I stripped flooring out to metal then used proteca coat to waterproof it, let it dry then just plast big huge rubber mat over it and mine still looks good 8 years on, the old saying if your gonna do the job do it right first time.
