How hard is it to change the crankshaft in one of these single cyl engines?

A while ago i bought a yanmar l100 washer, worked ok for a while but the keyway wore down on the shaft and bits of it sheared off. Was keeping it and going to buy another yanmar, and use the old one for spares. The engine starts and runs fine, i just cant put a pump on it cause of the shaft.

Can get a shaft for £85 from ebay, just wondering how hard it is to change? Doesnt seem like there is much to these engines.

I've never done one mate. I've got 2 yanmar engines with worn shafts.

What you can do though is weld a key way in place and fit a pully wheel and cat pump.

Yeah, someone mentioned welding it in place. But the actual side of where the key sits has broken off, so the shaft is almost smooth

Was just thinking if its an easy rebuild i could get it swapped and fit one of the pumps ive got and get another machine up and running

They are quite easy but you'll need a full gasket set. Get the shaft welded to repair the damage and then get a dremel and cut another keyway. A pack of woodruf keys cost buttons
