Carpet Glue removal from Ceramic Tiled Floor
« on: April 30, 2014, 06:21:11 pm »
Hi
What is the best product to remove carpet tile glue from ceramic floor tiles.

Just had a company begging me to help them clean 4000 sq ft by FRIDAY 2nd MAY  ;D

I told them I will try and recommend a glue remover as we are too busy, unless they see sense and wait...

Hi Kevin
Thanks

How much does it cost?
How much is needed for 4000 sq ft
Would it be available to collect tomorrow and from where could it be collected?

He has enough in the shed....no problem!  You really need to do a couple of meters first to get an idea. Use  stripper first ..then SP10 for a class "00" finish.
Phone him early in the morning....he feeds the elves and fairies at day light.

4000SqFt is 371M2 so you will need 20 US Gallons worst case scenario but as Chris says you really need to do a test first because you may get away with a lot less.  However if you do need 20 US Gallons it costs:

 £42.99 so 20 x 42.99  = £859.80 less discount = £687.84 + Overnight Courier (Deliver to site if you want) £29.95 = £717.89 + VAT = £861.47 and yes I have plenty in stock

I don't know anything about Kevins product....but what i would say is 20 gallons (4 m per litre), I would consider this  a very conservative guesstimation.
Taking into account you might need two applications to get it all off.
My experience is 70% 20% and 10% ...rarely it comes of in one go. I have been wrong many times before tho' ;D
It is very easy to get burned taking out this time of work without testing first.

Hi Chris
Although I don't bother too much with this forum any more for obvious reasons, I thought I would take the opportunity to thank you very much for the sample bottle of the remover. I tried it today on a victorian floor, roughly 160 years old that had every sealer thrown at it known to man.
I am pleased to say that, your mate in his shed at the bottom of the garden knows a thing or two about coating removers, please send him my thanks. I will be using it again.

(I hope this is NOT seen as an invitation to start a war, it is simply a thank you)
