If it gets too hot- and you don't want a hot dog- stick the dog in your tank for a bit. It could also double up as a brush.
I'm just being silly, mate; I don't have a dog but a few wc'ers on here do take their dogs with them.

Why would you want to take your dog to work?

What sort of impression do you think this would give?

I'd say it's a no vote from me.

If someone showed up at my home to do some work and they had their bestest friend with them. Firstly I'd wonder why, secondly I'd more than likely tell them that the dog stays in the van. I have kids and dogs, not a great idea to bring a dog then..............

I am a dog owner, always have been. Some jobs do lend themselves to taking a dog to work, Shepherd, Customs, Security, dancer on talent shows etc. Somehow cleaning doesn't fit that list, apart from maybe a doggy-wash ;)

I take my Lab with me. He stays in the van mostly, but been cautious in the hot weather and only took him in the mornings. Wrong impression? How do you mean?

One of my friends gave me a hand one day and brought his staffie. I wasnt too impressed but agreed he could sit in the van. Whilst at most houses he was barking for his owner.

I was very embarrassed. I personally dont agree with it

My Greyhound used to come out with me and loved being in the van. A large greyhound curling up on an Escort van front seat was impressive to watch and he just used to sleep all day. Lovely dog but the most bone idle creature I've ever met.

lets see if you can grasp this ..while i'm working - dogs in van

before work, brew times, after work  or just when i feel like it out in the fields or down the beck

whats the point in having a dog if its left at home all day &  if you say well the misses is at home & takes it out then its not your dog is it , its a family pet

We have a lab/sheep dog that we 'inherited' from my daughter.

He comes with me in the van most days and sleeps across the double passenger seat.  I usually put a towel across a window to stop the sun a bit as he is black and heats up quickly and the windows are left half down.

When he is in the van I usually park with the sun behind. During the winter he has the best place as I have an aux diesel power air heater which keeps the cab warm.If it is really too warm he stays at home.

If we don't go home at lunch time, then he usually get a walk down one of the walking tracks in our area. He gets hosed off and dried before he gets back into the van if he gets muddy.

He never gets let out into customers gardens. Some customers always have the same comment - "Oh, I see you got the boss with you today!"
Success is 1% inspiration, 98% perspiration and 2% attention to detail!

The older I get, the better I was ;)

ive been playing with this idea myself as i'd ;ove a dog but its not fair to have a dog and leave it at home all day.
to those guys who take their dog with them, have you had to train them to not bark etc everytime you leave the van? my experience with dogs is that when you leave the van, they are also desperate to leave the van

I have a one year old lab. For the first two or three days he would howl ehen I left him through seperation anxiety, but now he is fine. He is good company, but on hot days he gets left at home. As to being desperate to leave the van, I automatically say stay when I open the door, but he knows when he is coming with me because I pick up the lead then.

if you get a pup used to being left alone in the house first it should be ok in the van BUT you also have to be aware of chewing, i was trad with my first dog so it only chewed the seat belts & handbrake lol  & my next pup i was lucky & she's never chewed anything, with a pup though you have to keep going back all the time so it can be hard work but it's well worth it

1) quality seat covers
2) a good car vac

Gentlemn, please. All that glitters is not gold.

There is a certain charity who attempt to prevent cruelty to animals. And thats. All they are,, a charity, a bunch of jumped up idiots who think they have special powers.

However, it is ok for them to 'put down' a number of perfectly healthy german shephards, amd where was their involvment when the copper left his dog in car, and paid the, ultimate price?

Please do not be,blinkered into, everything this organisation says, they are but a mere charity who live off the people that they brainwash ;)

Read into it what you, will, but the proof is in the pudding.... And the pudding? Well, google it     '##pca - what they dont want you to know'

My six year old Labrador has been working with me since day 1 and there's never been a problem. I know where shes allowed out so I work my day accordingly. Normally I'll walk her at 8am and start at 8.30am. Four to five houses later she'll jump out for a job then back in until lunchtime when she'll have a walk and I'll have a walking lunch! Then it's back to work with the intention of cleaning another house where shes allowed out before finishing around 3pm.

If its really hot I'll only work until 1pm ish, my dog means the world to me and I'd never let her over heat or become uncomfortable.
