been cleaning my first tiles yesterday
around 20sqm, asked for 70, took me a bit over hour, sure could be done in around 40min but that was my first time
asked for 70 and got it with no problem, sprayed with solutions sts (had a sample bottle), scrubed it with tm4, extracted with the wand and glide on it, and then quick clean with magic sponge around the edges and some bits of remining dirt.
it was on the top of upholstery clean job

I would have taught tile cleaning would be a little more expensive than carpets.Problem with calling different companies, even for carpet cleaning the prices vary from 20 euro to 70 euro per room. ::)roll

I know guys who only deep clean domestic tiled floors and they are earning far more than when they were cleaning carpets and upholstery, average size kitchen come dining room at 95 euro to deep clean grout lines  and tile surface takes approx  one and a half hours which is a handy little earner as they get loads of referral jobs as the custys are trilled to have their floors looking like new again and end up telling all their friends and family about the amazing results, great thing is the custy will go back to mopping her floor with silly mops and chemicals and have to call the guys back again 6 to 12 months later to carry out another deep clean on her floors, not that these guys are complaining with the repeat jobs and all the referral work, happy days there is indeed money in dirt.

Hi Radek, yes even guys in Cork are getting these prices but no i would not name them as they would prefer others not to know their earnings, i am sure you know why as these are mostly cash in the hand jobs.

95 euro for 30 sqm is actually the same rate as my 70 euros per 20sqm.
I will be looking for minimum 50 per hour and looks like tiles can get that easy, more I say.  Gonna be an extra nice earner.

All the above prices are a joke! €70 right now equates to £51.85 for 20M2 that is £2.59 a M2 or  24p per sq ft ;D   The other example of 30M2 at €90 is even worse and works out to £2.22 M2 or 20.5p per sq ft. ;D

I don't know what your doing or how you work things out but I wouldn't even bother at those prices!!!!

The average van costs around £10-£15 a day just to tax, insure, service, repair, MOT and a bit of depreciation depending on initial cost.  I charge £25 a day for a van to attend every job + 45p a mile in fuel each way.  That does not include Parking or congestion charges if applicable.  So if one of those jobs was 5 miles away it would be £30 or €40 before I even started.  Both of you need to start thinking things through!

I allow for the same sort of transport cost................our vans each, travel 175 miles a day return to London and with parking and congestion charge it cost on average  £128.00 a day  plus the van use of £20.00 a day and that's before we get out of the van

kevin, you are just like some carpet cleaners, that can not understand that everyone has different situation.
Very specialized companies like you or Eddie can charge much more, different customer target, most are targeting middle class.
your spendings are different then mine, so I can charge less and still earn good money to me, the money which can be a joke for you but very good earner for me.

Yes Kevin you stated on a recent post that you don't bother with the mom and pop stuff as you called it ( deep cleaning tiles and grout lines) you just do the real work as you said which is fair enough, the guys i am talking about carry out this work with grout brushes, deep cleaning mops, and a small amount of cleaning solution, in and out 95 euro for one and a half hours work no expensive equipment required on average can do 4 a day and walk away with 400 euro in their back pockets,  thats 2000 euro a week and nothing to be snuffed at.

Kevin in fairness one minute you don't do the mom and pop jobs, and then you come on here trying to belittle others that do carry out these type jobs, what was the song called again (making your mind up) and i never use big smiley faces on any of my posts as i also think they are posted to try and  belittle others again.

It all depends on the specific job and how dirty the tile surface and grout lines are, some can be done quickly others can have compacted soils built up in the grout lines and soils that have been ground into the subtrate  of the tile and will take much more in time, solutions, pads, etc and need to be priced accordingly so,  always go and see the job for yourself and price what you think is fair for you and the customer, otherwise you can easily get caught out.

As well as heeding the great advice Tadgh has said about every job being different.  You also need to realise there are dozens of other surrounding factors which need to be accounted for as well when pricing work.  I have listed some key points below which need to be looked at and if you think things through you will quickly realise why there cannot be a one price fits all!

Distance (Commuting time, Fuel, possibly overnight accommodation)
Access Location (Flat, house, lifts & parking)
Immediate area surrounding work area (Expensive wallpaper, hand painted kitchens, lighting in plinths etc etc)

These are just a few things.  I did a small nothing complicated 4 night job (almost 250M2) in London that cost us around

Parking £440
Congestion £60
Hotels (2 Rooms) £760
Fuel, parking fine, Van costs & Subsistence   £650

That was around £1900 before we started on materials & labour.  I realise this particular job was unusually extreme but you have to account for everything!

It all depends on where you work and how far you travel then as Tadgh said the complexity the work!

I said in an earlier post 9M2 round the corner £225 same job in

London  about £450-£600
Glasgow about £1000-£1200

I do agree that there are variables in all floor cleaning , aspecially tile and stone cleaning. Everyone has the own price structures and if your happy and your customers happy and your making some profit, I will not knock you. But I do think simon has a good point, diesel, petrol , vat ,  road tolls all taken out will not leave much from 95 euro.

Hey tadgh ,like you said, every job is different. If there lots of volume work in there area at cheap prices, well fair play . I am in Dublin city, I would be out of biz at them prices . I actually priced the floor which I originally started this thread about at 150 , now I think that might have been to low.

The job you mentioned in your original post 30M2 Porcelain has loads of variables.  I have had Porcelain that has taken me a couple of hours to do and some that takes 2-3 days.  It depends what it is and what the problems are. To start with is it polished, unpolished, smooth or riven?  Transit wax, ingrained dirt, lippage, uneven grout joints?  The list is endless and then you have all the surrounding issues.  My starter for 10 would be £10-£15M2 if it was easy right up to as much as a £100M2 if it is really difficult

Maybe you should read the post again, i said on average they can do 4 a day that would equate to 6 on a good day, lets keep it at 4 a day  and  say they are putting 400 euro in their back pockets for 5 days work these guys are walking away with 2000 euro or more  or look at it another way 2000 euro for 30 hours work equates to over 60 euro an hour and is nothing to be snuffed at,  i take it chem2clean  living in Dublin you are earning much more than the guys i am talking about, well happy days if you are like i said there is money in dirt.

chem2clean  their marketing strategy is simple really, they carry out the work safely and professionally and achieve amazing results which in fairness is not hard to accomplish when all they are doing is deep cleaning grout lines and tiled surfaces, after seeing  the look of delight on the customers face with the finished results they just ask them to recommend their work to friends and family, thats why i said these guys just get loads of referrals because they don't over price the jobs and they do the work properly. Its all about working smart and not hard.
