Wet Vac Replacement Rubber Blades
« on: October 25, 2013, 07:55:53 am »
Probably one for Kevin...
The MAC Wet Vac that I got from you needs the rubbers on the end replacing, it has screws holding the rubbers in place and looks like a very easy swap over. Do you stock the rubbers ans if so how much are they?
Thanks :)

We carry a full range of spares for everything we sell!!!  Yes we can still get the rubber blades but to be honest we haven't bothered for a while as the rubbers were about a £5 each and the whole complete head is only around £15 but if you want to save a few quid and more importantly check the screws aren't too rusted I will get Antony to sort it out when he get's back on Monday!
Just let us know what you want to do!

£5 each rubber?
The rubbers on my smaller vac were £1.50 each.
I don't get why they have a set of screws that make changing the rubbers dead easy and charge £5 for the rubbers and £15 for the complete head, it doesn't make sense...hey ho, its the world we live in eh?
If you can get a set of rubbers Kev, I will have them off you as there is nothing wrong with the head, it seems such a waste to throw the whole thing away.
Thanks for your help

We probably still have some spare blades I don't know Tony can check on Monday!  Sorry if the £5 a blade shocks you but it seems to be the way of the World with spares these days!  MAC Int'l told me yesterday that the Geco Vacs I sell are a £100 under what they should be!  Have you tried the place you got your smaller Vac ones from because don't forget the blades off me will not be just  £10!  You have VAT and postage on that as well!  Sorry!

Hi Kevin
I think you are right, it IS the way of the world!!
What I really do not get with the rubbers is, one manufacturer can sell a replacement set of rubbers at £1.50 plus p&p and the replacements for this vac looks like it is going to cost roughly the same amount as a Pirelli P6!!
I suppose the lesson here is, before we all buy anything, look at the cost of on going replacement parts. Its a bit like my Laser printer, the toner is the same cost as buying a new printer! WTF!!!

Please let me know if you have any kicking around Kevin, they will be worth having a few in stock.

I don't worry about replacement costs or materials required for jobs anymore.  My philosophy is simple in that on my material costs for jobs I charge every job for Masking materials, rotary brush, vac head etc.  On top then I try and cover 5 - 10% of the cost of my machines being used on every job.  In this way for every 20 small jobs your gear is paid for and the bigger jobs every 10 jobs the gear is paid for.   So lets say in 20 small cleaning jobs you need a Klindex Rocky and a Geco 3000 watt wet vac cost a total of around £1200 you just charge £60 on every job and both machines are covered for replacement!

The £1.50 rubbers were for a vac that I first bought from the course I did years ago with posh floors. I think the company was called Rawlins, they do vac spares but sadly not for the Mac.

I knew someone would mention Durex ;D

Has anyone sourced blades for a realistic price ? Not prepared to pay £10 a set off the net, need blades for a few numatic heads assume generic these should cost pennies!

Actually the ones. We have on our Vacs are totally different they are serrated down one side and smooth on the other side and have 5 recesses cut out of them

I thought window cleaning sueegee rubbers were black???  If so they would be useless on floors because they would mark!  The ones on our vacs are chemical resistant reinforced grey rubber.  My opinion is don't muck around and just buy a new head complete.  You just charge a £5 for every job you use your vac on end of.

depends on the rubber compound numatic replacements are black no marking, former life worked for a few automotive rubber companies hence original post these should cost peanuts, why pay over the odds for parts that can be easily sourced at a fraction of the cost, reason I stay clear of dual pumps replacement parts ridiculous price

Exactly the point I made at the top of this thread. The rubbers should be replaceable, what a waste to throw away the whole head. Some people obviously are not too bothered about the environment!! ::)roll
