From your description it sounds like you have an Efflorescence problem! Can you upload some photos please?

Baby Oil has two uses that I am aware of:

The obvious one is use it on babies
The second use I have found is that it is great for Stainless Steel

With regards the floor I would use Aqua Mix Enrich N Seal!

Check it out here!

please dont use baby oil on these tiles they sound as if they are non slip, try linseed oil, will give the same effect as baby oil but is not as slipppy

With all due respect using Linseed Oil or even Boiled linseed Oil & Spirit mixed is a bit like buying a car and asking for a starting handle instead of a key.  It is old hat and nowhere near as good as a quality modern Enhancing Sealer

Come on guys this is a forum for solutions not for causing problems, dont even think about putting baby oil on any tile and never put baby oil on stainless steel as this is an old wives tale baby oil will actually dirty stainless steel, this is 2012 technology has moved on.
