Victorian geometric mosiac floor tiles
« on: June 30, 2012, 05:38:44 pm »
Iv got these tiles in my hallway. They were a real mess (concrete had been spilled when the house was being done up) but i managed to carefully clean them with a some diluted brick acid and a wire brush but they still need cleaning by a pro to get them looking 100%. Any idea on cost how much any of you guys would charge for something like this? Its bang on 4sqm.

Before you ask i do have some pics on my mrs phone but she is out atm  :)

Thanks in advance

Danny

You can do it yourself. Prewet the floor and apply Aqua Mix Heavy Duty Tile AND Grout cleaner. Allow it to dwell for 30 minutes then add some Aqua Seal 220 Grit honing powder and work it into a yogurt type consistency using a rotary scrubber fitted with a soft to medium brush. Then rinse twice. Hey Presto!

Hi, Doing yourself is great, what i would recommend is after you have cleaned and rinsed it, is to put down an emulsion polish, this would protect it from dirt etc and it would look fantastic, unfortunately depending on traffic, this process would have to be carried out every two or three years maybe but trust me it is worth it. Good luck :)

It is better to polish Victorian & Edwardian Geometrics and Encaustic tiles naturally rather than using an emulsion polish. The natural polish method emulates a real patina created over time.
