Can you really make £900 a day cleaning hard floors, or is this not the norm

Is it worth spending 10k on equipment

Where are these stats from?  I know people who make that sort of money but they have the equipment and they are good at what they do!  However that said making it everyday of everyweek is a slightly different ball game.

I don't have any rivals.  Our course is unique. We don't push products only guide people and tell them what we use!  Neither do we make people buy products for leads. Finally I don't think I have ever mentioned earning potential to anyone as that is very much down to individual ability in my opinion.!

I think that it's all about scale of operation and proportionate to the running cost of the business. Each business operator has a daily cost they need to meet and a profit margin they aim to reach.

I know of at least two bigger type operators that charge out at minimum £85/h or for a job cost charge out at minimum £650/day. Both have premises to rent, office staff and full time techie's on the books plus all the marketing that's needed to generate that turnover.

I have trouble trying to find a regular market for it, perhaps because I am a carpet cleaner and can find a carpet to be cleaned just by sniffing one out, pricing is how much you can get and how much the customer will pay and also dependant on the market.

NuLife have always been good a marketing but looking at Mike's blog and videos there are some items that they clean which aren't for me and do put me off, I'd love to know what Pierre has gotten into with his wood floor restoration which gives him the ready leads.

Marketing is key but is not something we push.  Yes I openly admit we like to sell our products but that is based on experience knowing they work.  I wonder are there any other actual people out there who teach the subject and actually do it on a full time basis as well?  It is very easy to impress people in a classroom environment!  I once met a Tiling Instructor who was absolutely fantastic on theory, setting out and could cut tiles in a classroom better than anyone I ever met!  Then he was taken out on a real job in a real situation  :o :o :o

So is it worth it for a Domestic Carpet Cleaner wanting to add this as an extra service to offer clients, to do the course and buy the gear.

I think so because Carpet Cleaners are half in the door before they start. After all how many houses have you been in to clean a carpet where they don't have some sort of hard floor to clean? With regards to equipment it depends on how far you want to take it. But for normal hard floor cleaning you will get away with a decent rotary and a wet vacuum.

Does it take longer to do?

If you charge 3 times more and it takes 3 times longer won't that amount to the same?
ie: masking up before clean etc there's a lot more prep involved and going back to clean and re seal

Hi all

Just reading some of the posts i dont come on here often and post

but anyway 900 per day yes you will do this but not everyday we have  taking over double this in a day with a two man team.

but these jobs are not everyday. or everyweek

Cleaning stone floors is simple enough but if you want to get into restoration that totally different involveing different skills that need to be learnd hands on doing a job
you can get the basics on a course but it will take time to hone these skills and some mistakes will be made along the way.

You cannot compare carpet cleaning to stone restoration to clean 20 meters of carpet will take about an hour from set up to set down easy

some stone restoration jobs we have been on with about twenty meters have taken us two days
and we didnt make 900 per day or near it either but thats  life and you take it as it comes
and learn from it.

Yes there is a good living in stone restoration but its not for everybody as its bloody hard work and will test your abillty as an indavidual to keep going to see some projects to the end
and if you only want to work 9 to 5 forget about that as most commercial jobs will be night work as well just to add to the fun and tiredness
If you are looking for easy money stick at the carpet cleaning it easier.
And just as much money in it for a one man who is  self emloyed

any way these are just rambilings from an ex carpet cleaner turned stone restoration sometimes i wish i just cleaned carpets.
