Stripping Polish
« on: June 27, 2012, 06:18:20 pm »
Hi all just wondered if anybody might be able to let me know of a better product, I am stripping polish off some old vinyl, at the moment I am using carefree stripper and it is doing the job but there are many years worth of polish (I have been told 20yrs).
Is there a better stripper that I could use. Somebody told me to use caustic soda but that sounds like a disaster to me.
Also would hi productivity black pads make a big difference if so where can I buy them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks David.

Chemspec High Power Stripper is what I would use. Is it definately vinyl.

I can sort you out with Hi-Pro pads also. Sometimes on really heavy build up it is worth using the hi pro pads dry to remove as much as possible before applying the stripper.

This way you get a lot less gloop!

Hi Dave, i have sent you an email with some details on a new nano technology based product that has been developed in the States.

It wont solve the current problem your having but once you strip a vct floor, apply this product you will never need to strip it again.

Sounds similar to the 3M Scotchguard for floors released here and available in US. which product is it? We use Dr.Schutz PU Sealer which in the US is sold as Waxnomore as it too removes the need to ever strip. Just recoat every 3-5 years on a commercial dependant on traffic and goes on in one coat.
