Linoleum is a natural product and thermoplastic are synthetic. It is important to establish which you are working on.

Linoleum is made up of linseed oil, limestone, wood flour and other natural ingredients my tired brain can't remember at the moment. Basically this type of flooring will benefit from a sealer followed by the finish. Make sure you always neutralise any Preperation product I.e. stripper before application to ensure a good bond with the floor. Be careful if having to strip as certain strippers can irreversibly damage linoleum.

For LVT or VCT you can apply finish only as it is essential plastic and nonporous.

i would use Chemspec Tight Shine personally as the finish as it dries quickly (unless you were on my last course!) it's urethane fortified and gives a reasonable gloss level with thin coats. There is a compatible floor sealer. We can supply if required along with a suitable cleaner or stripper depending on conditions and task specific pads.

Give me a call Monday if you want to discuss further.

Thank you cleaning systems uk  for your advice. I am now faced with a new problem I stripped and sealed some floors at work a hospital a few weeks back and they have been fine untill thursday when they became very slippery.I have done many floors at work with no problems before so am at a loss as to why its happened this time. it is a linoleum floor and was sealed with jd eternum floor polish 4 coats I scuffed the floors up using a green pad then applied taski tensol with a spray bottle and red pad then buffed it back up with a white pad it seems a lot better now but it still concerns me .also do you do flooring courses. thank you.again.

It may be slippery because the finish hasn't bonded to the floor. It would look powdery if this is the case. It could also be dust or detergent residue from the maintenance. Especially if spray buffing without a vac unit or post dust mopping.

Are there any plants or doors nearby. Furniture polish and leaf shine over spray can make the floor slippery.

Carefree eternal is a decent product. I would still use a sealer before applying it as a top coat on marmoleum.

Currently we do one to one courses at our place in Cupar although this will change after the summer to larger classes.

Where are you based? Restormate nr Newcastle put on a course for resilient flooring for around 10 at a time and almost have enough for the next one to run if Fife is too far North for you.

Hi I have always used British Nova emulsion polish, never used anything else. :)
