Sisal Carpet
« on: July 09, 2008, 05:29:24 pm »
Just come back from a site quote, customer bought a new sisal carpet for the lounge 12 months ago. They have a dog, more correctly a bitch who is now in season, with the result of predictable spots, and a large patch of wee.

Having searched the posts on here about sisal I am inclined to decline this one unless someone has a good idea as to how to clean it

you can only dry clean it, nebver wet clean, and the odg stain will probably be permanent

Karl is correct but you can potentially (wet) treat spot areas (subject to testing of course)

Mr Walker was telling me today that he had removed a pee stain using prochems fibre dri and the envirodri and that was on sisal.

I think you should do it. Try the dry method all over and if stain still there spot as normal testing of course and I would try M Power (eh derek  ;) ) if required.

Hi Philip,

I would use the envirodri with dry cleaning powder. Mist the carpet and stained area's with either M Power or a microsplitting agent then apply some dry powder and brush in. Leave it for up to 20 minutes then brush it again and vacuum off. I have had some success with this method but you should always advise the customer that it is at their own risk and the results could be limited. I would definately not use hwe as this would pose too many risks.
